Here is some background information on Thomas Rhett from the Something To Do With My Hands Songfacts. Thomas Rhett grew up in the music industry by means of his singer-songwriter father Rhett Akins. Whilst studying business and communications at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Rhett formed a cover band and began playing frat parties and other gigs they could get. His dad persuaded him to take the stage one night at a Nashville showcase, and EMI Music's Ben Vaughn, the same publisher who had signed his father many years earlier, offered Rhett a publishing deal.
Rhett co-wrote the song "I Ain't Ready to Quit" on Jason Aldean's 2010 album My Kinda Party and signed a recording contract with Big Machine Records' Valory Music Group division in 2011.[2] In early 2012, he released his debut single, "Something to Do with My Hands". The song received a positive review from Taste of Country writer Billy Dukes, who called it "clever, but not so cheeky that the joke tires after a listen or three."[3]

But not near enough to satisfy an itch
Outta girl, understand
I need something to do with my hands
I don't work, on a car
And I'm as bad at pool as I am at throwin' darts
And golf, not a fan
So maybe I should stick 'em in your pockets
Run 'em through your hair
And we can get to rockin'
There you are and baby, here I am
And I need something to do with my hands
I can play you a song
On this old guitar, if it turns you on
If you want, we could dance
But I need something to do with my hands
So maybe I should stick 'em in your pockets
Run 'em through your hair
And we can get to rockin'
There you are and baby, here I am
And I need something to do with my hands
Top off, in my jeep
And we can go for a ride and I could drive with my knees
I'll behave, best I can
But I need something to do with my hands
So maybe I should stick 'em in your pockets
Run 'em through your hair
And we can get to rockin'
There you are and baby, here I am
Yeah maybe I should stick 'em in your pockets
Run 'em through your hair
And we can get to rockin'
There you are and baby, here I am
And I need something to do with my hands
I need something to do with my hands
With my hands
Something to do with my hands
The song "Something To Do With My Hands" by Thomas Rhett describes a man who is restless and looking for something to occupy himself. He lists off various activities he enjoys, like smoking and fishing, but finds that they don't satisfy his itch. He's not handy with cars or games like pool and darts, and he doesn't enjoy golf. He needs something to do with his hands, which is what brings him to the chorus. He tells his girl that he might as well stick his hands in her pockets or run them through her hair, and then they can get to rockin'. He suggests playing her a song on his guitar and dancing, but ultimately he just needs something to do with his hands.

In my opinion, Thomas Rhett is the cutest guy in country music today! Every time he smiles, I can't help but smile right along with him.
However, what really got me hooked on him is the great amount of passion he puts into his singing, he seems to put his all into every song!
