Why Can't We Live Together
Thomas Timmy Lyrics

Why can't we live together
Tell me why, tell me why
Why can't we live together
Everybody wants to live together
Why can't we be together
Just a little peace
No more war, no more war
All we want is some peace in this world
Everybody wants to live together
Why can't we be together
No matter, no matter what color
You are still my brother
I said no matter, no matter what color
You are still my brother
Everybody wants to live together
Why can't we be together
Everybody wants to live
Everybody's got to be together
Everybody wants to live
Everybody's going to be together
Everybody's got to be together
Everybody wants to be together
I said no matter, no matter what color
You're still my brother
I said no matter, no matter what color
You're still my brother
Everybody wants to live together
Why can't we be together
Gotta live together
Together
Thomas Timmy's song Why Can't We Live Together is a protest song that delivers a message of unity and peace to the world. The opening line "Tell me why, tell me why, tell me why" symbolizes the artist's frustration with the current state of the world and the need for an explanation as to why humans can't coexist peacefully. The chorus "Why can't we live together" is a rhetorical question that expresses the artist's desire for everyone to work towards creating a peaceful world.
The second verse "No more war, no more war, no more war, just a little peace" exemplifies the reiteration of the central message of this song. The repetition of "no more war" emphasizes the fact that we must abolish wars if we want to create a peaceful world. The use of the phrase "just a little peace" indicates that the artist is aware that world peace is not something that can be achieved overnight but is rather a gradual process that requires everyone to work together.
In the final verse "No matter what color, you are still my brother," Thomas Timmy emphasizes the need for racial equality and the fact that all humans should regard each other as brothers and sisters with no discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity or skin color. In conclusion, Why Can't We Live Together by Thomas Timmy is a song that passionately advocates for global peace, racial equality, and a world where everyone can coexist in harmony.

I agree .Sounds as fantastic as when I first heard it in a "disco " in 1973 . The lyrics have such a positive message too . The record should have been a much bigger hit that's for sure .

I walked into my first ever nightclub at the age of 17 in 1978 and this was playing through a smokey haze, dimly lit by a cheap sound to light system…I had my new girlfriend on my arm and I truly thought I’d died and gone to heaven.
God I was lucky.

Actually written by Noel George Williams, aka King Sporty. The same Jamaican native who with Bob Marley, wrote Buffalo Soldier. Don’t know why he sold the copyright.
