I am from the Uk. I grew up in the SDA church listening to Black Gospel Music and as a result became a Gospel pianist. I actually met Thomas at City Temple near Chancery Lane in London where he performed in the 80’s.. I was just a teenager learning piano and I remember I told him and asked him for an autograph. He signed my file-o-fax diary with these words ‘don’t worry when the sounds don’t come like you want them too, just keep trying ..... or something like that and I was very inspired and encouraged. His arrangements and his virtuosity as a pianist, his songwriting was phonomenal, I always return to these recordings to gain inspiration.

Since this is so close to my heart for clarity, I was asked to produce The Tribute Album to the late Thomas Whitfield my mentor and muse. I produced & performed the new version of this masterpiece to the best of my ability with his younger brother on vocals. We were awarded a Stella Award,The composition was so long, I took the musical license to record it in two parts: so it would get the well deserved radio play. Thomas was a God given Music gift, Lest we Forget I am Pastor Earl J. Wright Jr.

My Dad recently passed away....this song by the Maestro helps me get thru the lonly dark hours. I can't fake it and act like it doesn't hurt,and this masterpiece seems to articulate where I'm at. It lets me know that someone else has been in the same type of valley...

@tdiyou i cant fin that album at all not even on vinyl , its on his gospel greats album on amazon though,i just discovered his music in january and i like it alot , Alive & Satisfied ,And They...Sang A Hymn ,are among my favs ,A Tribute to the Maestro , is also heavily played, i didnt he made the song the lord is blessing me either, I need My Faith 1990 and ill be happy lol

This is my 1st time hearing the original version of this song..until now I have only heard the version of this song performed by the various artists featured on the project titled "Tribute To The Maestro"..I like this version as well, but I must honest; the remake of this song (in my opinion) is much better..

Actually, what's going on is the "Hold Me" prelude, from the tribute album, and, if you notice, @ 2:20, it fades out. The original "Hold Me" fades in at that point. The piano solo has been omitted. The uploader did a "mishmash" of the two...notice the pitch difference...
