So Far So Good
Thornley Lyrics

I feel a little bit left of center
but then again we've all been there before
Every time I see a lost cause coming
it's nothing less, nothing more
Every time I get lost in paradise
I find a way to screw it up somehow
It's not the way it's supposed to be
but it'll do for now

When you're right, you're right
Everything else in my life just might be wrong
You're wrong all the time

So far so good 'cause no one knows I'm faking
I wish I could show you the toll it's taking
Sometimes I live as if there's no tomorrow
So far so good

I better find a way to cross my fingers
half the luck'll get me twice as far
I'm sick and tired of coming up for air
it shouldn't be this hard
Every little bit'll help I wonder
if it's enough or did I cross the line
The kitchen counter is a bad reminder of a better time

When you're right, you're right
Everything else in my life just might be wrong
You're wrong all the time

So far so good 'cause no one knows I'm faking
I wish I could show you the toll it's taking
Sometimes I live as if there's no tomorrow
So far so good

When you're right
Everything else you messed up just might be wrong
You're wrong all the time

So far so good 'cause no one knows I'm faking
I wish I could show you the toll it's taking

Sometimes I live as if there's no tomorrow
So far so good

Overall Meaning

“So Far So Good” is a song by the Canadian rock band Thornley, released in 2004. The song is about a person who feels lost and out of place, struggling to find their place in the world. The lyrics describe the singer’s constant failures in life, and how they live in a state of perpetual uncertainty. The song speaks to the feelings of loneliness and isolation that many people experience, especially when they feel like they are not living up to their own expectations.

The opening lines, “I feel a little bit left of center but then again we've all been there before” sets up the theme of the song, emphasizing the idea that feeling lost is a universal experience. The second line “Every time I see a lost cause coming it's nothing less, nothing more” suggests that the singer is aware of their own failings but is powerless to stop them.

The chorus of the song, “So far so good 'cause no one knows I'm faking, I wish I could show you the toll it's taking, sometimes I live as if there's no tomorrow” highlights the internal struggle of the singer. They feel like they are pretending to be someone they are not, but they do not know how to show their true selves to the world.

This song is a true forgotten classic of the mid 2000s era alternative rock! I still remember hearing this for the first time shortly after HS graduation summer of 04.

@Ches13h

I was doing a bit of spring cleaning yesterday and ran across my old cd case. I open it up to find a burnt cd labeled 8-14-04. I ran down to my garage and popped it into my cars cd player and low and behold this song was #1!!! haven't heard this song in almost 2 decades and honestly forgot all about it. I've since watched this video 6 times since yesterday LOL!!!!! Damn we grew up on good music
