The freezing conditions in the mountain pass in mid-December are extremely harsh and can be deadly.

Mountain pass in mid-December is no place for any man.
The location is unsuitable for human habitation because the harsh climate can cause severe damage to the body.

It will tear you up, rip you down,
The cold can inflict physical and psychological damage that is difficult to withstand.

With the worst type of cold.
The cold experienced in these conditions is at its harshest and most brutal.

It creeps in shattering your insides,
The cold penetrates deeply into the body and causes great discomfort and pain.

With a feeling you'll never know.
The level of cold experienced is not something that can be imagined or understood without experiencing it firsthand.

Our minds start to slow.
The extreme cold causes the cognitive abilities of those experiencing it to deteriorate.

Nothing to eat, nothing to drink,
There are no sources of food or water available in the isolated location.

Nowhere to go.
The characters have no means of escape from their dire situation.

Snowfall's trapping us in deeper as the days move.
As time passes, the amount of snowfall increases and makes it increasingly difficult to escape or find resources.

It's so cold, so fucking cold.
The extreme cold is so intense that it defies description.

Hunger strikes with rage, food chain kicks in.
As their food supplies dwindle, the characters are forced to eat whatever they can in order to survive.

Two of us have died, five of us to go.
Some members of the group have already died, and there are still several more who may not survive.

What are we to do?
The characters are faced with a difficult decision about how to survive in their dire circumstances.

I step up with fear in my words,
One of the characters takes a leadership role, despite being fearful.

And no remorse in my voice;
The decision to resort to cannibalism is difficult, but seen as necessary.

"We must eat our dead or we will become one of them.
The group sees cannibalism as the only way to survive and avoid ending up like those who have already died.

We must eat our dead, eat our dead!
The group is compelled to embrace cannibalism in order to survive.

Slice them up, eat the liver first.
The group resorts to consuming the dead in order to survive, and does so methodically.

We feast like gods knowing it won't last.
The characters indulge in their cannibalistic tendencies, but are fully aware that this temporary solution will eventually run out.

Weeks go by; all we have is more fucking cold.
As time passes, their situation remains extremely bleak and difficult to endure.

What a way to die; with blood rage,
The situation is so dire that even death is not necessarily a release from the suffering.

Frozen face down in the snow.
Death in these conditions is particularly brutal and unforgiving.

It's so fucking cold.
The extreme cold remains a dominant force throughout the story and drives much of the actions taken by the characters.
