From there, the band would continue to rise in the charts. In 2007, they released their fifth full-length, The Flame in All of Us, which was produced by Ken Andrews (Beck, Chris Cornell, Pete Yorn). Arriving in 2009, the aggressive Welcome to the Masquerade, which would be the band's last release with Tooth & Nail, entered the Billboard Top 200 at number 35, peaking at number two on the Christian rock chart. It was their most successful album to date and would spawn the band's first live album, Live at the Masquerade. The group's next studio album, The End Is Where We Begin, was issued in 2012. It was their first album released entirely independently. Continuing the upward chart trajectory with each subsequent release, The End debuted at number 14 on the Billboard 200, and claimed the top spots on both the hard rock and Christian charts. In late 2013, the band released Made in Canada: The 1998-2010 Collection, which included two new tracks. Thousand Foot Krutch remained independent into 2014, relying on crowd-sourcing for the release of the energetic Oxygen: Inhale, the first part of a pair of hard rock chart-topping LPs. The heavier Exhale followed in 2016, marking TFK's third consecutive Christian number one.

I got lightning running through my veins
Ain't nobody gonna stop this train
So hop on board, or get out the way
Because I was born this way
I got lightning running through my veins
Ain't nobody gonna stop this train
You can't stop us, we can't be stopped
Ever since I was an infant, I spit it
Ate mics, and rocked Lennon
In first grade, I drank my juice with rocks in it
Never looked down, 'cause up, had more stains in it,
Always been about the heart, never cared who's winning'
Ha, I chase the light, like emcees on the wrong mic
My blood was the wrong type, So I had to give my life
And relearn, the minute that I felt real life
I'd rather create, than follow
Welcome to the knife
Because I was born this way
I got lightning running through my veins
Ain't nobody gonna stop this train
So hop on board, or get out the way
Because I was born this way
I got lightning running through my veins
Ain't nobody gonna stop this train
You can't stop us, we can't be stopped
Feel that smoke rise, to the sky
Split, like a dollar sign
Flip, when ya hear that beat, rip like it's dynamite
Cold, like a winter street,
Loud, 'cause I wanna be
The mic is my weapon, so I spit this artillery
Ha, I chase the light, like emcees on the wrong mic
My blood was the wrong type, So I had to give my life
And relearn, the minute that I felt real life
I'd rather create, than follow
Welcome to the knife
Because I was born this way
I got lightning running through my veins
Ain't nobody gonna stop this train
So hop on board, or get out the way
Because I was born this way
I got lightning running through my veins
Ain't nobody gonna stop this train
You can't stop us, we can't be stopped
The lyrics of Thousand Foot Krutch's "Born This Way" showcase the band's unapologetic, high-energy sound and the message of staying true to oneself. The chorus confidently proclaims that the singer was "born this way" with lightning coursing through their veins and nothing can stop them from pursuing their path. In fact, the song encourages others to either "hop on board" or "get out the way."
The first verse provides a glimpse into the singer's early life where they were always drawn to music and performing. Even as a child, they had a drive and passion to be on stage and make their mark. They weren't deterred by obstacles or setbacks because they saw beyond the surface and believed in their heart. The second verse continues this theme of perseverance and striving for greatness despite the odds. The metaphor of the "knife" represents the challenging journey of pursuing one's passion in the face of adversity.
