From there, the band would continue to rise in the charts. In 2007, they released their fifth full-length, The Flame in All of Us, which was produced by Ken Andrews (Beck, Chris Cornell, Pete Yorn). Arriving in 2009, the aggressive Welcome to the Masquerade, which would be the band's last release with Tooth & Nail, entered the Billboard Top 200 at number 35, peaking at number two on the Christian rock chart. It was their most successful album to date and would spawn the band's first live album, Live at the Masquerade. The group's next studio album, The End Is Where We Begin, was issued in 2012. It was their first album released entirely independently. Continuing the upward chart trajectory with each subsequent release, The End debuted at number 14 on the Billboard 200, and claimed the top spots on both the hard rock and Christian charts. In late 2013, the band released Made in Canada: The 1998-2010 Collection, which included two new tracks. Thousand Foot Krutch remained independent into 2014, relying on crowd-sourcing for the release of the energetic Oxygen: Inhale, the first part of a pair of hard rock chart-topping LPs. The heavier Exhale followed in 2016, marking TFK's third consecutive Christian number one.

"We're here"
I'm a rose that's been raised by wolves
My father getting stuck in everything I know
It's so hard when you would beat
For the truth you know
But we don't want the truth
We just want control
(I'm on my own, here we go)
Moment, put it on me
If you want it
'Cause I'm sick and tired of all of this
Flown it if you want it and you can own it
But I was gonna let it go
I've seen the devil and I've met fear
Met them both on the road
That left me here
I've met God and I saw life
And he saved mine a million times
I've met trouble and I've met rain
Laugh with joy and cry with pain
But now I see and I believe
That the ghosts that haunt me
Have been outhaunted
I'm a long way from way back from home
Been traveling like a bullet everywhere I go
It gets so out of reach
When you're in control
'Cause you've either got the money
Or it's got your soul
(I'm on my own, here we go)
Moment, put it on me
If you want it
'Cause I'm sick and tired of all of this
Flown it if you want it and you can own it
But I was gonna let it go
I've seen the devil and I've met fear
Met them both on the road
That left me here
I've met God and I saw life
And he saved mine a million times
I've met trouble and I've met rain
Laugh with joy and cry with pain
But now I see and I believe
That the ghosts that haunt me
Have been outhaunted
They never told me that I could be
Free from the hate that's inside of me
They took my place
Took my dignity
They kept me gazed like an enemy
But I know now I can be
Free from the pain that's inside of me
You took my place
Gave me air to breathe
Opened the cage and you set me free
I've seen the devil and I've met fear
Met them both on the road
That left me here
I've met God and I saw life
And he saved mine a million times
I've met trouble and I've met rain
Laugh with joy and cry with pain
But now I see and I believe
That the ghosts that haunt me
Have been outhaunted
In "Give up the Ghost", Thousand Foot Krutch paints a picture of a journey of personal growth and transformation. The opening lines set the stage with the singer proclaiming that they are ready and that "we're here". The use of the metaphor of a rose that's been raised by wolves suggests that the singer has faced significant challenges and obstacles in their life. The following lines about the singer's father getting stuck in everything they know seem to suggest that the singer's way of life has been influenced by their family and upbringing. However, despite the hardships and the desire for control, the singer recognizes that there is a higher truth that they seek.
The chorus reaffirms this theme of personal transformation, with the singer singing about meeting both the devil and fear, and also meeting God and life. This juxtaposition of good and evil suggests a struggle within the singer, with the recognition that both good and evil exist within themselves. The line "and he saved mine a million times" preaches the idea that there is a higher power and faith that can save even if it's not clear or immediate that it will do so. There is also the acknowledgement of the importance of embracing the good moments and learning from the tough ones. Finally, the singer declares that the ghosts that have haunted them have been outdone, implying that the singer has faced down their fears and emerged on the other side.
Overall, "Give up the Ghost" speaks to the idea that one's past, even if it's full of wolves and demons, can be overcome and that change and redemption are possible. It suggests the importance of faith and a relationship with a higher power, as well as the recognition that tough moments are part of the journey.

I think this is my favorite song from Exhale so far, sound and lyrically. "We don't want the truth, we just want control," "'cause you've either got the money or it's got your soul," "I've met God and I saw life, and He saved mine a million times," and the entire bridge are all amazing, and some of my favorite TFK lyrics of all time.
This is really shaping up to be a truly amazing album. Cannot wait to hear it all. Also can't wait for Rock the Tarmac. It's been far too long since I've seen you guys, especially since the last opportunity I had got cancelled....
