From there, the band would continue to rise in the charts. In 2007, they released their fifth full-length, The Flame in All of Us, which was produced by Ken Andrews (Beck, Chris Cornell, Pete Yorn). Arriving in 2009, the aggressive Welcome to the Masquerade, which would be the band's last release with Tooth & Nail, entered the Billboard Top 200 at number 35, peaking at number two on the Christian rock chart. It was their most successful album to date and would spawn the band's first live album, Live at the Masquerade. The group's next studio album, The End Is Where We Begin, was issued in 2012. It was their first album released entirely independently. Continuing the upward chart trajectory with each subsequent release, The End debuted at number 14 on the Billboard 200, and claimed the top spots on both the hard rock and Christian charts. In late 2013, the band released Made in Canada: The 1998-2010 Collection, which included two new tracks. Thousand Foot Krutch remained independent into 2014, relying on crowd-sourcing for the release of the energetic Oxygen: Inhale, the first part of a pair of hard rock chart-topping LPs. The heavier Exhale followed in 2016, marking TFK's third consecutive Christian number one.

Feelings are ok to me,
And I just want to find a place where no one sleeps,
We're all awake and take the time to get away
I don't want to play these games,
Your strength has helped me make the change,
Catch me if I fall from grace
'Cause lonely was a safer place,
Catch me if I fall from grace
[Chorus]
Take the time to learn to breathe,
'Cause some day we're going under,
We did, we all fall asleep
Won't someone wake us?
Take the time to learn to breathe,
'Cause some day we're going under,
Help us see whats underneath
I'm not here to place the blame,
'Cause although we're not,
We're all the same,
You lit a fire when you called my name,
I don't want to play your games,
'Cause lonely was a safer place,
Catch me if I fall from grace,
[Chorus]
I wanna take you, wanna shake you,
Wanna make you feel like I do, I wanna take you,
Wanna break you, wanna make you know what it's like
I wanna take you, wanna break you,
Wanna make you feel like I do, I wanna take you,
Wanna shake you, wanna make you know what it's like
I won't fight you, I'm not like you,
I wanna make you see what I see, I won't fight you,
I'm not like you, I wanna make you feel... like I feel
[Chorus]
You think you have it all figured out
You think you're onto something
I see you standing there
Acting like you have no idea what I'm talking about
You don't like the way I dress
you don't like the way I talk
That's fine, 'cause nobody asked you
And next time you want to point the finger
I suggest you look in the mirror.
The lyrics of “Learn to Breathe” by Thousand Foot Krutch talks about a desire to escape from all the negative influences that surround and impact us, learning how to breathe in times of struggle, and refusing to play anyone else's game. The song encourages the listener to take a step back and take a moment to breathe because things are going under, and we need to take notice of what's underneath. The song inspires people to find a path and leave behind all of the negativities and issues that weigh them down.
In the verses, the singer expresses the need to get away from the things people say to him while seeking a place where everyone is awake, and loneliness isn't a comfort zone even if people try to drag him down. The chorus is a reflection and a call to action, imploring everyone to take things slow and learn to breathe because, at some point, everything feels overwhelming, and we need help to overcome it. The singer believes in himself and his perceptions and takes on anyone who tries to bring him down. In the final portion, he sends a message to people who judge him based on his appearance and mannerisms and suggests that they focus on themselves first before judging others.
