Before the band had played a single live show, their home recordings generated significant interest online. The song Rational Eyes hit #1 on the international independent music website GarageBand.com and to this day remains in the top 5. This prompted many record labels to take notice, one label in particular fit perfectly with the band’s vision, and in 2005 THREAT SIGNAL inked a deal with Nuclear Blast Records.
THREAT SIGNAL’s debut album Under Reprisal was recorded with producer Christian Olde Wolbers (Fear Factory / Arkaea). “It’s without a doubt my favorite album of 2006,” Wolbers remarks. “A mix of Strapping Young Lad, Fear Factory, Soilwork… a true Canadian phenomenon!” Veteran mixer Tue Madsen added the final touches to the album and it was released internationally in August 2006. Embraced by fans and critics, although perhaps the most meaningful praise for the album came in the form of the Canadian Recording of the Year award bestowed upon the band in their hometown at the 2006 Hamilton Music Awards.
After supporting Under Reprisal on the road for over 2 years, THREAT SIGNAL entered the studio in November 2008. They recorded their second album Vigilance with the band’s singer Jon Howard taking over production duties. “Vigilance takes every element from Under Reprisal and pushes it to the next level,” explains Howard. “I’m completely ecstatic how far the band has progressed, and I couldn’t be more proud of the new record.” Fellow Canadian Greg Reely was chosen to mix and master the album, and it was released through Nuclear Blast Records on September 8th 2009, Now Available in stores and online at www.threatsignal.com.

United We Stand
Threat Signal Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Eliminate the choice and divide us
Dissolution, self-confusion
Fall into the absence of mind
As you run away, away from all your fear
We'll stand right here
As you fall away, away from us this year
Its not complicated the life you once lead
The demon is in your head
I felt suffocated like I'd reached the end
But now united we stand
Now we stand
As you run away, away from all your fear
We'll stand right here
As you fall away, away from us this year
We'll stand right here
How long will you defend, the path you've chosen, the life that you've thrown away
Take this life in our hands, united we stand, this world becomes what we make it
Take this life in our hands, united we stand, this world will become what we make it
The lyrics of Threat Signal's song United We Stand speak of the importance of solidarity, unity, and standing up against oppression. The first stanza poignantly describes the attempts of oppressors to suffocate the human will to survive, by eliminating choices and dividing people. The second stanza describes the courage of those who stand for their beliefs and refuse to back down in the face of fear. The line "I felt suffocated like I'd reached the end" speaks of the overwhelming sense of hopelessness that one might feel when faced with a challenging situation, but the line "But now united we stand" suggests that the sense of hopelessness can be replaced with strength and unity.
The chorus repeatedly emphasizes the message of solidarity and standing together. The line "Take this life in our hands, united we stand, this world becomes what we make it" in the last stanza is a call to action. It calls upon individuals to be accountable for their own lives and contribute to making the world a better place by standing with others and fighting for the greater good.
Threat Signal's United We Stand is a powerful message about the importance of unity and solidarity against oppression. The song reminds us of our responsibility towards each other as humans and encourages us to take a stand for what we believe in. It is a call to action that inspires listeners to take control of their lives and make the world a better place.
