The original lineup included three lead vocalists — Danny Hutton, Chuck Negron, and Cory Wells — along with Michael Allsup on guitar, Jimmy Greenspoon on keyboards Floyd Sneed on drums and Joe Schermie (from the Cory Wells Blues Band) on bass.
Three Dog Night recorded some tracks with Beach Boys producer, composer, vocalist, and instrumentalist Brian Wilson before signing with Dunhill Records and at the time went under the name Redwood. The band changed their name based on an article describing how Australian Aborigines slept with their dogs for warmth on cold nights, the coldest being a "three-dog night."
I Can't Get Enough of It

I'm taking more than my share
Falling in love I can bear
Provided that loving affair
But he don't know about you
And all the things that you do
And how it breaks me in two
Just to know a man's with you
I can't get enough of it, oh
I can't get enough of it, oh
I can't ever let you go, oh
I feel like I need you so, oh
I can't get enough of it, oh
I can't get enough of it, oh
Yeah ''cause every time we're apart
I get a pain in my heart
And my mind's completely a mess
And I ain't getting no rest
I guess I'm failing the test
I guess you're getting the best
Of all the love I can give
''cause you're the reason I live

Chorus
In this song, the singer is confessing his addiction to a person he is deeply in love with. His doctor has warned him about the dangers of excess, but the singer cannot resist his overwhelming desire for this person. The love affair is breaking him in two, but he cannot let go. He feels like he needs this person so much that he cannot get enough of them.
The chorus "I can't get enough of it" emphasizes the singer's obsession and addiction to this person. He feels like he is failing the test because he cannot control himself when it comes to this person. He believes that this person is the reason he lives and that he cannot live without them. The pain he experiences when they are apart is unbearable, and he cannot get any rest because of his overwhelming desire for them.
The lyrics illustrate the powerful and all-consuming nature of love, highlighting the good and bad aspects of being completely in love and addicted to someone. The singer is willing to ignore his doctor's warnings and endure the pain of his addiction to be with the person he loves.
