The band released a self-titled effort in 1996 following their formation, where Ament and Robb, who met together on a tour where both their main bands played, collaborated on this side project, which combines rock music with mystical-style Eastern music.
The band reformed in 1999 and toured throughout the year in support of their second album, The Quiet Table.
Here in the Darkness
Three Fish Lyrics

Haven't a word where she's gone
And in a word, I am alone
Into the dark where she's gone
Here in the darkness, she cries more
Here in the darkness, she crawls
Here by her side, I am alone
And by her side, I have grown
Here by her side, I have flown
And in the darkness, I have roamed
And in the darkness, I have clung
Here in the darkness, where she runs
She runs, she will run, she will run
The lyrics to Three Fish's song "Here in the Darkness" convey a sense of loneliness and longing for someone who has left. The opening lines "Heaven's a word where she come from, Haven't a word where she's gone" suggest that the person the singer is referring to comes from a place of bliss or perfection, whereas the place they have gone is unknown or uncertain. This creates a sense of mystery and unease. The next lines "And in a word, I am alone, Into the dark where she's gone" highlight the isolation and sadness the singer feels in this situation. The darkness that she has gone into, both physically and metaphorically, seems to consume and overwhelm the singer.
The chorus "Here in the darkness, she cries more, Here in the darkness, she crawls" evokes a feeling of desperation and pain. The singer feels helpless and unable to do anything to ease the woman's suffering. The lines "Here by her side, I am alone, And by her side, I have grown" suggest that despite the pain and isolation, the singer has found some meaning in being there for this person. However, while they have grown in some way, they still feel lost and uncertain. The lines "Here by her side, I have not known, Here by her side, I have flown" describe the singer's inability to fully understand or connect with the woman. It seems that she is far away, both physically and emotionally. The final lines "Here in the darkness, where she runs, She runs, she will run, she will run" suggest that the woman will continue to elude the singer, and that he will be left alone in the dark once again.
