Thrice Lyrics

All you great men of power
You who boast of your feats
Politicians and entrepreneurs
Can you safeguard your breath in the night while you sleep
Keep your heart beating steady and sure
As you lie in your bed
Does the thought haunt your head
That your really rather small
If there's one thing I know in this life
We are beggars all

All you champions of science
And rulers of men
Can you summon the sun from its sleep
And does the earth seek your council on how fast to spin
And you shot up the gates of the deep
And don't you know that all things
Hang as you by string o'er the darkness
Poised to fall
If there's one thing I know in this life
We are beggars all

This song blows me off my feet every time I hear it. It is literally soul-wrenching -- a description that often gets tossed around too lightly. It physically hurts, yet I can't stop. I find myself wailing the lyrics when I am alone in the dark of my empty home. It fully encompasses the horror of existential despair. It humbles our idols and all our aspirations and crushes them into the dust they really are. I sincerely believe this is the best song written in the history of man.

Thrice has to be one of the greatest bands to ever play.

Daniel Ferguson

I see this album as a true masterpiece. Dissonance with heart and mind.

Daniel Mikesell

This is both the death and rebirth of a great band. Dustin knew what he was doing. So do I.

Thank you Thrice. You mean more to me than you can know.

Shred Shed Studios

This is the best song in the last 25 years....hands down.
