"Sun Come Undone" was released on March 13, 2007 on Birdnote Records.
Guitarist Casey Harvey had been pestering Rachel Tracy about forming a band for years. She finally relented in the summer of 2005, agreeing to play bass, and they recruited vocalist/guitarist Anna Conner during a pickup baseball game and drummer Matt Davis shortly thereafter. Having cut their teeth in the formative Baltimore all-ages indie scene of the mid-nineties, they were itching to make meaningful music again. Several practice sessions in, they realized there was real chemistry and Thrushes was born.

Trees
Thrushes Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I’ll catch each one and think of you
Lift me up and I’ll climb high
Step on you and make you cry
I’ll make you cry
This tree splits right through
Half is black and half is blue
Both our letters looked the same
Are you the same?
The lyrics to the song "Trees" by Thrushes are quite introspective, with the singer seemingly addressing someone they miss or have lost touch with. The opening line "Shake down a leaf or two, I'll catch each one and think of you" sets the tone for the rest of the song, with the singer implying that they try to hold onto any memory or connection they can with the person they're addressing. The lines "Lift me up and I'll climb high, step on you and make you cry" are more ambiguous, but could be read as the singer feeling like they have control over the situation or relationship, and could hurt the other person if they wanted.
The second half of the verse gets more specific, with the imagery of a "tree split right through, half is black and half is blue" hinting at some sort of division or separation. The final line "Your hand carved a name, both our letters looked the same" suggests that the singer is addressing someone they were once close with, and there was some sort of shared experience or bond. Overall, the song seems to be an exploration of nostalgia and longing for someone who is no longer present.
