Mad in love
Tiësto Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
One man come in the name of love
One man he come and go
One man comes here to justify
One man to overthrow
In the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
Early evenin', April 4
Shot rings out in the Memphis sky
Free at last, they took your life
They could not take your pride
In the name of love
In the name of love
In the name of love
In the name of love
The opening lines of Tiësto's Song Mad in love are a reference to the various forms of love in our society. One man comes in the name of love and he is followed by another one who comes and goes. The idea behind "One man comes here to justify, one man to overthrow" is that love is not only about happiness and joy, sometimes it can be a battle between different parties, each trying to win the heart of the one they love.
The chorus of the song "In the name of love" refers to the idea that people can do anything in the name of love. It is a powerful force that makes people do the impossible, including taking up arms, fighting for what they believe in, or even sacrificing their own lives for the ones they love.
The second verse of Mad in Love is a nod to the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. in 1968. The lyrics "Early evening, April 4, Shot rings out in the Memphis sky, Free at last, they took your life - they could not take your pride" are a reference to the events surrounding the civil rights leader's death. The line "Free at last, they took your life - they could not take your pride" emphasizes that while his physical body was taken away, his spirit and legacy lived on and continue to inspire and motivate people to this day.
