Tears From the Moon
Tiësto Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
so I went down walking.
Thinking about you,
and hearing us talking.
And all the things I should have said,
echo now inside my head.
I feel something falling from the sky
Chorus:
Tears from the moon
Fall down like rain
I reach for you
I reach in vain
Tears from the moon
Tears from the moon
It just ain't fair
this thing called loving.
When one stands there
the other feels nothing.
I would have done anything for you
I still love you, baby I adore you.
All day I keep from falling apart
But at night when the sky gets dark
Chorus
Stop, stop hunting me
It should be easy,
As easy as when you stop wanting me.
Chorus
Tears from the moon
Fall down like rain
but tears from the moon
Can't wash away the pain
Tears from the moon
Tears from the moon
Tears from the moon
The lyrics to Tiësto's song Tears From The Moon describe the lingering pain and longing of someone who has experienced a failed relationship. The singer is unable to sleep and takes a nighttime stroll, replaying past conversations with their former partner and regretting things left unsaid. The imagery of tears from the moon falling like rain reflects the singer's deep sadness and the sense that the world is weeping with them. Despite their ongoing love for their ex, the singer feels powerless to change the situation, lamenting that "this thing called loving" is unfair when only one person feels it.
The chorus repeats the phrase "tears from the moon" as a haunting refrain, each time adding more emphasis and a sense of desperation. The singer reaches out for their former partner, but it seems that all their efforts are in vain. They long for an end to their suffering, but acknowledge that stopping their heart from feeling is not so simple. Ultimately, the tears from the moon cannot wash away the singer's pain.

As easy as when you stop wanting me.
As straightforward as you no longer desiring me.
Tears from the moon
Tears from the moon,
Fall down like rain
Fall down like raindrops,
