and this would later determine his choice of singing and writing in English.
Despite having no musical background in his family, Tiago started playing the acoustic guitar at age 8.
In 2007 his unpretentious acoustic single 'Nothing but a Song' drew attention to
his voice and led to the release of his debut album Let Yourself In, which gained notoriety after several of Tiago's songs were featured on major Brazilian primetime soap operas, TV ads and films. Tiago soon started touring across the country and in 2009 was Jason Mraz's Brazilian Tour opening act.
Let Yourself In was also released in Japan, where 'Nothing But a Song' peaked at number 11 on Billboard's Japan HOT 100 Chart, and in South Korea, where the public granted Tiago a Best Foreign Artist Award for his performance at the 2010 Grand Mint Festival. Another single — 'Fine' — featured on the popular South Korean TV series Personal Taste.
His second studio album Umbilical — which had New York-based Andy Chase as producer — was simultaneously released in Brazil, South Korea and Portugal on October 2011. Digital releases in the United States and Japan followed shortly after.
The Umbilical Tour had it's debut on March 14th at the 2012 South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas, and included performances in Portugal and over 20 sold out dates in Brazil.
Blame
Tiago Iorc Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It says -I'm feeling all alone
And I'm the one to blame, well
At least that's according to what you say
But I think you're wrong
We we're never meant to belong
When you've got nothing to hold on
You need something to hold on, besides me
It felt like turning into stone
Made sure my feelings didn't show
How could I be accused
When deep inside you always knew
That you could be wrong
That I'd be long gone
When you've got nothing to hold on
You blame it all on me
You need something to hold on, besides me
Tiago Iorc’s song, “Blame,” is a masterpiece that explores the challenges of a relationship that has been rocked by various issues. In the opening verse, the singer reveals that he received a message on his phone from his partner, in which she complained that she was feeling alone and that he was the one to blame. However, he disagrees and thinks that they were never meant to belong in the first place. He essentially tells her that she is wrong to blame him for everything.
The second verse delves deeper into the complexities of the situation. The singer states that he tried to suppress his feelings and turned into stone. He felt accused when his partner knew deep down that she could be wrong. Moreover, he reveals that he is already long gone. The chorus of the song, which is repeated twice, highlights the fact that when people feel like they have nothing to hold onto, they often blame others. In this case, the partner is blaming the singer, and he says that she needs something to hold onto besides him.
In summary, “Blame” is a song about a complex relationship that has gone sour. The partner blames the singer for everything, although he disagrees and thinks that they were never meant to be together. He has already checked out because he feels accused of things he did not do. The chorus conveys the idea that people often blame others when they feel like they have nothing else to hold onto.
