Last Night When We Were Young
Tierney Sutton Lyrics

Love was a star, a song unsung
Life was so new, so real so right
Ages ago last night
Today the world is old
You flew away and time grew cold
Where is that star that shone so bright
To think that spring had depended
On merely this: a look, a kiss
To think that something so splendid
Could slip away in one little daybreak
So now, let's reminisce
And recollect the sighs and the kisses
The arms that clung
When we were young last night
The lyrics of Tierney Sutton's song "Last Night When We Were Young" is a beautiful reflection of the fleeting nature of love and youth. The opening verse paints a picture of a time when love was pure and exciting, and life was full of endless possibilities. The singer reminisces about a time when love was like a star, shining bright and pure, and a song they had never sung before. It was a time when life was new and everything felt right. However, in the following verse, the singer acknowledges how quickly time has passed, and how love can slip away just as quickly.
The second verse contrasts sharply with the first, where the world is now old, and the star of the past has faded away. Love was no longer a vibrant force, and as time went by, it grew cold. The singer mourns the passing of that magical time, where love and life were intertwined, and youth allowed them to experience everything in a way that only free spirits can. However, that light has faded and gone, and they realize that time is the thief of all precious moments.
The final verse acts as a call to reminiscence, where the singer reflects on the joy they once experienced as young lovers. They remember the touch of their lover's arms, the gentle kisses, and the feeling of being so close to the other person. It's a bittersweet reminder that youth and love are fleeting and temporary, but it still remains as a cherished memory.
Overall, the lyrics of "Last Night When We Were Young" are a poignant reminder that love and youth are temporary, but the memories that they create can last a lifetime. It's a beautiful ode to the beauty and melancholy of life, and it captures the essence of what it truly means to be young and in love.
