My Heart Stood Still
Tierney Sutton Lyrics

That's all I meant to do
And then my heart stood still
My feet could step and walk
My lips could move and talk
And yet my heart stood still
I could tell you knew
That unfelt clasp of hands
Told me so well you knew
I never lived at all
Until the thrill of that moment
When my heart stood still
I took one look at you
That's all I meant to do
And then my heart stopped right there
My feet could step and walk
My lips could move and talk
And yet my heart stood still
Though not a single word was spoken
I could tell you knew
That unfelt claps of hands
Told me so well you knew
I never lived at all
Until the thrill of that moment
When my heart stood still
The lyrics of Tierney Sutton's "My Heart Stood Still" describe the feeling of falling in love at first sight, with the singer stating that they only needed one look at the person in question for their heart to be "stilled" or stopped in its tracks. While their feet and lips continue to operate as normal, their heart remains in a state of shock and stillness. Despite the lack of spoken words between the two, the unspoken connection between them is palpable, with the singer able to sense the other person's recognition of their mutual attraction. The singer suggests that they have never truly lived until experiencing this moment of love at first sight.
Overall, the lyrics of "My Heart Stood Still" convey a sense of awe and wonder at the power of love, particularly its ability to render a person speechless and motionless with its intensity. The song speaks to the universal experience of falling in love at first sight, which is often accompanied by a sense of complete surrender to one's emotions.
