The Song Is You
Tierney Sutton Lyrics

A beautiful theme of every
Dream I ever knew.
Down deep in my heart I hear it play.
I feel it start, then melt away.
I hear music when I touch your hand,
A beautiful melody
Down deep in my heart, I hear it say,
Is this the day?
I alone have heard this lovely strain,
I alone have heard this glad refrain,
Must it be forever inside of me,
Why can't I let it go,
Why can't I let you know,
Why can't I let you know the song
My heart would sing?
That beautiful rhapsody
Of love and youth and spring,
The music is sweet,
The words are true
The song is you.
In Tierney Sutton's song "The Song Is You," the singer describes how music is synonymous with her love for her partner. She hears music when she looks at him, and it contains every dream she has ever had. When she touches his hand, she feels a beautiful melody from an enchanted land. The music resonates in her heart and melts away. She realizes that this lovely strain is only inside of her, and she wishes she could let her partner know it too. She wants him to know the rhapsody of love, youth, and spring that is within her heart. The song refers to the singer's lover as the music that she hears, the music that is sweet, and the words that are true.
The lyrics of "The Song Is You" are elegant and touching. They evoke an image of a couple so in love that they hear music when they're together. The singer describes how the music fades away when she stops touching her paramour's hand or looking at him. The song's words are a representation of how music and love are intertwined. Music serves to intensify the emotions that a person feels towards someone they love. The song provides a sense of yearning that feels universal, the desire to share something wonderful and intimate with someone special, the need to express a deep connection that is hard to put into words.
