The group had two completely different line-ups - the first (a group of session singers) in 1981 and a male/female trio in 1982. The original lineup reformed in 2010.

In 1981, record producer Ken Gold came up with the idea to record a single made up of a medley of 60s songs. The medley trend was in full swing at this time, following the success of Starsound and their Stars on 45 singles. He put together a group of male/female session singers and released "Back to the 60s" under the title Tight Fit. The song became a hit in the Summer and reached No.4 in the UK Charts. A follow-up, "Back to the 60s Part 2" was released soon after and also hit the UK top 40.

Later in the year record producer Tim Friese-Greene recorded the song "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" with another group of session singers. The song was released in early 1982 again under the title Tight Fit. The song gained instant attention and so a group was formed to front it. Dancer, singer and male model Steve Grant was teamed up with female singers Denise Gyngell and Julie Harris. The song reached No.1 in the UK for three weeks and the line-up were catapulted into sudden and unexpected stardom.

Satisfied that this line-up could actually sing in their own right, Friese-Greene produced their next single, "Fantasy Island" - a song which had been in the Dutch Eurovision Song Contest heats. The song, in a very similar vein to pop group ABBA, also became a success and reached No.5 in May.

The group then set about recording an album as well as rehearsing for their first tour. A third single was released in August. "Secret Heart" wasn't as big as a success as the previous two and stalled at No.41. The debut album was released soon after, but coincided with both Harris and Gyngell leaving the group. Both unhappy with their contract, they claimed that they weren't receiving any royalties from their hits and were being paid a paltry wage to tour the world as well as recording sessions, TV appearances and magazine interviews. Swiftly, two new female singers were employed to take their place and the group released another single, "I'm Undecided" - a song from the album, with new vocals. The song failed to make the UK Charts and this signalled the end of Tight Fit's brief pop stardom. In an interview, Harris stated that the public didn't take to the new line-up and had she and Gyngell been still with the group, it would have likely been a hit.

The following year, Tight Fit released one more single - a cover of Stephen Stills' "Love the One You're With". Under the banner Steve Grant with Tight Fit, the song completely missed the chart and the group duly split-up.

I've been a housekeeper for about five years now and Have worked at about 3 different hotels in that time. the main reason why the sheets are tucked so tightly is so that the bed can look neat, wrinkle-free and presentable.

(Also, maid announcement, if you don’t want your bed re tucked during room service, leave a note. Some guests will “make” their bed the way they like, with the sheets pulled loose, but unless specifically told otherwise, we are instructed to do the hospital tuck even during a daily service. Conversely, if you leave a laptop on the bed, it may not get made, since staff is often told NEVER to touch a laptop or iPad and to leave the bed alone if there are breakable electronics. But that rule isn’t universal.)

In the hotel I worked at we didn’t have folding machines, and we do have fitted sheets. Hotels mainly do it for looks, it looks neater. If it’s not pulled right it looks wrinkly.

Actually, there are a lot of hotels that do have fitted sheets. I worked at a casino hotel for a short time and they had them there along with the flat sheets. That hotel had a separate laundry room so they all knew how to fold the fitted sheets properly. Makes for a wonderful appearance and saves time!

Working in housekeeping, I can attest to this being true about the comforters and the bed scarves. We are also scrutinized on how tightly we tuck the beds and how full the toilet paper roll is. And to note it only takes two seconds to triangle fold the toilet paper. Aldo the only fitted non white sheets that my hotel are for roll away beds.

I lived with my ex who worked security at a hotel for a few months,and I can confirm this is all true. The less you touch in a hotel the better,let me just put it that way. Mind you I got special treatment and I still cleaned everything even after they came through cleaning.

I was a housekeeper and tbh I didn’t know this, I tucked the beds so tight to be malicious cos my hotel beds would always be so tightly tucked 😎 also definitely pro tip when going to bed in a hotel untuck the ends, throw the comforter off the bed and you’re good to go👏🏼

I’ve worked at 20+ hotel properties over the course of my career and at every location we did and still do use fitted sheets. I also have never worked at a property that had a folding machine instead of a housekeeper(s) designated just to oversee laundry.

As a former hotel manager, I can tell you that the fitted sheet covering the matress is cut to shape for that matress. It's meant to fit snug, so the fitted sheet won't pop off while you sleep. The flat sheet atop the fitted sheet is supposed to be pulled tight and tucked using hospital corners. This is for aesthetic. A stain-free, white, flat sheet that a person can clearly see without wrinkling. The bed or beds in a standard hotel room is the focal point of the room. The better the bed is made, the happier the guest is.
If you think hotel sheets pulled tight on a hotel bed is weird, you should watch housekeeping when they fold the fitted sheets. It's been at least a decade since I last worked as hotel management and I still amaze my friends when they catch me folding a fitted sheet. Granted, I've gotten a bit lazy about it over the years, but I still fold it. Pretty much everyone else that I know just rolls it up and tosses it into a corner.

I work at a hotel. We use fitted sheets, two sizes at that. Tight sheets don’t prove the sheets have been changed. I recommend taking the top sheet off to inspect the bottom sheet. Some housekeepers cut corners for various reasons.

I used to work at a hotel and TBH it's all about appearance and sometimes guests would just damage the linens which makes the hotel short in number of linens, we can't get new linens like buying them off the shelves. I’m a housekeeper at a Hilton hotel, and we use both fitted and flat sheets and we have duvets on our comforters and we change those every time as well. We NEVER re use any linen on the bed we always change to fresh clean linen.

So, former hotel housekeeper here, I pull all sheets when staying at a hotel due to professional courtesy, and fitted are still widely used. Two flat sheets signals cheap out to me. Comforters, pillows and blankets are rarely washed, less often then a week, beware and ask for fresh ones if in doubt!

I worked at a holiday inn, a Marriott and a days inn and every hotel I’ve worked at uses fitted sheets.. the reason it’s tucked so tight is because we make the beds nice and neat as well as doing a military corner. It’s not that deep of a reason just that we make the bed nice and neat and every hotel has different standards or ways they want the bed made but it’s always standard to have them tight and tucked. Wow, this is first time I'm hearing about top sheets, I had to do a little research, and I'm still not sure if I understand what it is. But I'm assuming, that you are not sleeping with your feet not covered, and duvet on your head, and it's not the case, that you are sometimes rolling your duvet in the middle of the night to hug it to you.

we use top sheets in the US (if you aren’t from here, otherwise maybe your family just never used them) its the same material as a fitted sheet and it goes over it. so the bed is fittrd sheet, top sheet, then comforter. Its basically just for hygienic reasons. the idea is you arent touching the comforter because the thin sheet is on you. however if you are like me and kick all around at night you end up touching the comforter a lot anyway! top sheet is also helpful if its really hot but you can’t sleep uncovered

I work at a hotel in downtown nashville Tennessee as a maintenance guy, I would suggest checking your sheets top and bottom before laying down. There are housekeepers that will just "fluff" the sheets if we are low on linen or when they are just lazy. That means after someone stays in the room, they go in and literally just switch and flip the sheets. Also check for spots and such if you are paying for a room in excess of $180, if you see spots on your sheets at all, then have your bed remade. 9 times out of ten they will immediately replace your sheets with fresh or maybe even new ones. The amount stuff that touches our sheets is astonishing and disgusting at the same time. I'm sure you guys dont want to sleep on the same sheets as another random person lol.

As a career Night Auditor at five hotel franchises, I can tell you that all of the ones I have ever worked at use fitted sheets on the mattress.
If there are franchises that use only flat sheets, I would love to work there since about 3/4ths of my shift is spent folding sheets and towels and I would love to work at a hotel that does not use the fitted sheets.

I've worked hotels and stayed at plenty. None of them had automated machines and all of them used fitted sheets which are faster and easier to fold than regular sheets in reality. And tight tucked sheets won't do anything to stop bedbugs. Just completely blatant misinformation or blanket statements which don't apply to many if not most hotels. I like your videos but this one was a fail.

I worked at a hotel for a year, we did use fitted sheets.

As a person who works in a hotel. We have fitted sheets for all of our beds. And folding fitted and flat sheets take about the same time. I’ve worked laundry, housekeeping and front desk. The comforter and foot sash at the end of the beds get washed after every check out. So do shower curtains and pillows.
