Overall Meaning

The song "Djourou" by Tiken Jah Fakoly is a powerful commentary on the state of corruption and injustice in Africa. The opening lines say "Djourou ka mim mim guê djourouyê sarala," which in the Bambara language means "the days are long, the nights are short, and people are suffering." The lyrics go on to describe the various forms of oppression that people in Africa face, from corrupt politicians to abusive police officers and soldiers.

The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "N'bra mounou mounou ka mounou mounou, ma gnan sôrô foy foy ma han," which means "we must speak up and not remain silent." Despite the difficult circumstances, the song encourages people to stand up for their rights and resist oppression.

Overall, "Djourou" is a powerful call to action for people in Africa to resist corruption and injustice, and stand up for their rights.
