Wake Up
Tim Armstrong Lyrics

(Are you ready for this?)

Yeah

Wake up
You son of a bitch
I wanna know who your with and
Why do you roll in and out
At like six in the morning

I say
Wake up
My love of mine
Why do you spend your time
With these guys who don't love you
The way that I do

This time things gonna be changin'
Start a new
Rearranging
I got a new
Girl I'm seein'
Just like the last one, jus' like the first one

Live for today
Not tomorrow
Keep movin' away from sorrow
Ain't one to beg or borrow

So listen to me

Wake up
You son of a bitch
I wanna know who your with and
Why do you roll in and out
At like six in the morning

Phone call
No mistakin'
She starts
Her head shakin'
Eyes open
Now I'm awake and
I'm gonna take it day by day now

Gettin' high
Good times rollin'
On the side
Cities showin'
Off somewhere new
To be goin'

So keep movin'

Wake up
You son of a bitch
I wanna know who your with and
Why do you roll in and out
At like six in the morning

Wake up
You son of a bitch
I wanna know who your with and

Why do you roll in and out
At like six in the morning

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of this song are about a broken relationship. The singer addresses his lover, whom he refers to as “son of a bitch,” and asks why they roll in and out of his life at dawn, leaving him unsure about who they are with. The first half of the song is a conversation between the singer and his lover, explaining the hurt and confusion that arise from their actions. In the second half, the song takes on a different tone, as the singer claims to have moved on with someone else, much like his previous relationships. There is a sense of cynicism as the singer talks about living for today, not tomorrow, and turning to drugs and partying in order to move on.
