The first verse is sung by Frank-N-Furter, the seductive and flamboyant character played by Tim Curry in the cult classic film The Rocky Horror Picture Show. He introduces his handyman, Riff Raff, who is feeling a little down because he was expecting someone else (presumably the candyman). Frank-N-Furter urges the visitors not to judge him by his appearance, as he is not what he seems. He may not be much of a man by day, but at night he is a "hell of a lover". The second verse is the famous chorus of the song, where Frank-N-Furter proudly declares himself as a "sweet transvestite from transexual Transylvania". He embraces his unconventional gender identity and defies society's expectations.
