It's astounding
Time is fleeting
Madness takes it's toll
But listen closely
Not for very much longer

I've got to keep control
I remember doing the time-warp
Drinking those moments when
The blackness would hit me
And the void would be calling

Let's do the time-warp again
Let's do the time-warp again
It's just a jump to the left
An then a step to the right
With your hands on your hips

You bring your knees in tight
But it's the pelvic thrust
That really drives you insane
Let's do the time-warp again
Let's do the time-warp again

It's so dreamy, oh fantasy free me
So you can't see me, no, not at all
In another dimension, with voyeuristic intention
Well-secluded, I see all

With a bit of a mind flip
You're into the time slip
And nothing can ever be the same
You're spaced out of sensation
Like you're under sedation
Let's do the time-warp again
Let's do the time-warp again

Well I was walking down the street just a-having a think
When a snake of a guy give me an evil wink
He shook-a me up, he took me by surprise
He had a pickup truck, and the devil's eyes
He starred at me and I felt a change
Time meant nothing, never would again

Let's do the time-warp again
Let's do the time-warp again
It's just a jump to the left
And then a step to the right
With your hands on your hips

You bring your knees in tight
But it's the pelvic thrust
That really drives you insane

Let's do the time-warp again
Let's do the time-warp again

Overall Meaning

The Time Warp, from The Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack, is a fast-paced, catchy song that is famous for its dance routine. The opening lines "It's astounding, time is fleeting, madness takes its toll", set the tone for the rest of the song. The Time Warp is a dance that transports those who partake to new, exciting dimensions. It's a break from the mundane and a chance to let loose. However, there is a warning to it, to listen closely and to keep control. It's as if the song is urging us to enjoy this wild experience, but to also be aware of its effects.

The second verse of the song takes a surreal turn with the lyrics, "It's so dreamy, oh fantasy free me, so you can't see me, no, not at all. In another dimension, with voyeuristic intention, well-secluded, I see all". It's almost as if the song is suggesting that the Time Warp dance takes its participants to a place where anything is possible, and challenging us to embrace that freedom.

The final verse of the song details a bizarre encounter with a snake-like character, "Well, I was walking down the street just a-having a think when a snake of a guy gave me an evil wink. He shook-a me up, he took me by surprise. He had a pickup truck, and the devil's eyes. He starred at me and I felt a change. Time meant nothing, never would again". It's clear that the Time Warp has taken over the singer's life and that he is no longer in control.

Rest in Peace Meat Loaf <3 A legend that lives on forever in our hearts and the music! The best Eddie, hot patootie bless your soul

NRF3703

This is my favorite part

Shows off Meat Loaf as an actor and how villainous Frank N Furter truly is without the smoke and mirrors of sexual appeal.

Kaptain K. F00L

Rest In Peace Meatloaf, you will be missed by many, as you were loved by many.

Percy Gloverfold

If they ever make a movie about Meatloaf, Jack Black HAS to play him.

CHUD-Master General

RedYellow Blue you’re right

Miguel Gonzalez

Jack Black is now too old to play Meatloaf. He's currently (2018) older than Meatloaf was when he released Bat Out of Hell II and his massive single I'd do anything...

Oskar Hobbs

Yeah both are rock artists also both great actors

movierocks

Meat Loaf did not know how to ride a motorcycle at the time. The shots where they show Eddie far away that’s a stunt double. For the close up shots they were actually pushing Meatloaf in a wheelchair.

Poseidon

There is a movie about meatloaf called β€œto hell and back”
