The First Noel
Tim Miner Lyrics

The angels did say
Was to certain poor shepards
In fields as they lay
Oh In fields where they lay
They lay keeping their sheep
On a cold winter's night
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel
As we celebrate the birthday of our Lord
I won't let the true meaning be ignored
He came to give his life
For you and I
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel
Repeat out:
This is the time of year
To spread a little joy and cheer
Remembering the newborn King
Fa, la, la, la, la, la, sing
From the heaven up he fell
Jehovah Emmanuel
Noel
"The First Noel" is a traditional Christmas hymn that tells the story of the shepherds who were the first to hear the news of Jesus' birth from the angels. The song begins with the angels announcing the birth of Jesus to a group of poor shepherds who were tending their flocks in the fields. These shepherds were the first to behold the sight of baby Jesus lying in a manger. The lyrics describe the cold and bleak winter night when the shepherds were keeping watch over their flocks, and the bright and shining star that led them to the manger where Jesus was born.
The chorus of the song repeats the word "Noel" several times, which means "Christmas" or "the birth of Jesus Christ." The lyrics also remind listeners of the true meaning of Christmas, which is to celebrate the birth of Jesus and the gift of salvation that he brings. The song ends with a call to spread joy and cheer during the holiday season, and to remember the newborn King who came to give his life for all of us.
