Falling in Love
Tim and Ryan O'Neill Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Heart spilling over
Checking all emotion
Motionless, I wait for a sign

Am I the biggest fool
With my face turning blue?
I may as well be hanging bells in the sky
Falling in love with an octopus
She will love you, she will leave you, she will fly
Falling in love with an octopus
She will capture your heart in the blink of an eye

Hiding there in the coral
Camouflaged, you would never know
Emotive, effusive, evasive, elusive
Holding you not so very long ago

Feel the push-pull of the waves overhead
Carefully, no sudden moves
Reaching out to touch her, getting seaweed instead
Giving up until my surrender improves

I try to fall asleep
As she beckons from the deep
Visions of our bodies entwined
Unbelievable, it seems Or was it all just a dream?
Am I losing her or losing my mind?

Falling in love with an octopus
She will love you, she will leave you, she will fly
Falling in love with an octopus
She will capture your heart in the blink of an eye

Hiding there in the coral
She's calling the shots with her silence
Feel the push-pull of the waves overhead
Carefully, no sudden moves

Reaching out to touch her, getting seaweed instead
Giving up until my surrender improves

Overall Meaning

The song Falling In Love by Tim and Ryan O'Neill tells the story of a man who falls in love with an octopus, a creature that mesmerizes him and captures his heart. The first two lines of the song, "Heart spilling over / Checking all emotion", suggest that the singer is overwhelmed with emotions but is trying to hold them back. He feels motionless and waits for a sign, unsure of what to do next.

The next four lines of the song, "Am I the biggest fool / With my face turning blue? / I may as well be hanging bells in the sky", suggest that the singer is aware that falling in love with an octopus may seem foolish to others, but he cannot help how he feels. The line "hanging bells in the sky" is a metaphor for an impossible task, suggesting that the singer knows he cannot control his feelings for the octopus.

The chorus repeats the phrase "Falling in love with an octopus" and emphasizes the unpredictable nature of the creature: "She will love you, she will leave you, she will fly / She will capture your heart in the blink of an eye". The last verse of the song suggests that the singer is struggling to reconcile his love for the octopus with the reality of their situation, and he questions whether what he experienced was real or just a dream.

Overall, the song Falling In Love is a poignant and unusual love song that explores the complexities of human emotion and the unexpected sources from which love can arise.

I don't think the romantic type of love is special, and I think that the romantic type of love isn't real. I mean about more than half of romantic couples either break up with each other or divorce each other. I think humans should just ditch concepts like dating, marriage, and pair bonding. I feel like this world would be a much better place without romance than it is with it.

Studies prove single, childless, women are the HAPPIEST demographic. Women are the happiest when single and focused on themselves.

Statistically speaking, women are happiest when single and childless in today's times. Also, women can have friends and biological family that they share a life with. We as humans need the presence of other humans in our lives yes. But we can live alone. We don’t need romantic relationships to survive. We do need love and support, but it can be from friends and family. It does not need to be from a romantic partner.

Studies also show that single women are far happier than their married peers, and that married women lose out in career earnings, career trajectory, health, and life expectancy compared to those single peers as well.

Married women live shorter lives, and report lower levels of happiness than women who never marry. Single women live longer than married women. Also, according to many studies, women have higher rates of depression when married.

I have watched this b4 & was entranced by the video & song. I'm NOT sure if I had subscribed to u yet. But DEFINITELY have 4 a since the last nite w/ the 2 episodes back 2 back!!!!

I loved ur recent video with music BUT without lyric, which I shared.

BUT others I do love the songs that u use that have such complimentary lyrics & melody. Ironically I've been trying to grow in my song writing, so I listen probably sometimes more to the lyrics then others as they equally pull me in. I had thot I had written these lyrics down, but I hadn't.
(Listening is an important part 4 me due 2 writing both of the lyrics & having the melody is key) BUT I love when u also capture a scene & the back to back rxns!!! I LOVED how u showed Lucy being cuddly with Kojo. And then showed Tim being sweet & loving with Kojo (One my favorite back to back images) I don't know how I missed u capturing Kojo w/ Lucy & Tim.

At times, I've noticed that I've haven't watched an episode & so I'll buy it on YT.
I actually didn't know til just the other week, that Jackson did know about Nolan & Lucy.

I said something abt that & someone told me that Jackson DID know!!!! I was shocked b/c in Season 1 Nolan & Lucy r very careful at times what they say 2 Jackson.
And Jackson did seem clueless. This person told me the episode. She described it a bit, BUT I bought the episode on YT, cuz though I've watch The Rookie on TV I also have missed a few episodes & love that u can buy single episodes on YT. I noticed cuz of being told it was in Season 2, that I never bought that episode & also had never seen it. SO... immediately I wanted 2 watch the whole episode. AND as I said, in ur latest video, it makes it so much deeper & powerful. Then suddenly u used it in ur last video & it was beautifully woven in. (BUT I was still very glad to have 1st bought the episode & watched the scene in the context of the whole episode, & with all of them, b4 seeing it on ur video.) Meaning again, 4 ppl who only watch CHENFORD VIDEOS they can't fully appreciate every characters evolution & their backgrounds & how they impact each other. I've seen most of all the episodes, but the odd one I haven't. I'm someone who DEFINITELY needs to watch it & immerse myself in the whole episode. SO...that made ur video even more poignant & searing 2 me.

I wz curious abt what episode this is, where it shows Tim w/ Kujo. I've watched "Season 2 'Casualties" & knew that was the episode of Lucy fostering Kojo. & how in the end she realizes she wasn't prepared to own a dog. And she apologizes to Jackson. But it was sweet when Lucy said, she found a good home for Kojo & immediately it went to Tim walking dwn the street w/ Kojo as he meets up w/ Mitch. Suddenly when Mitch tells, Tim, "It's not ur fault u know. U know what happened 2 me. Tim's expression was shock!!!! And Mitch reiterates, "It wasn't anyone's fault " ( Mitch of course referring 2 have lost his leg due 2 a EUD, while Tim was his squad Sergeant in the military.) We know how Tim so easily blames himself & had been carrying this guilt & assumed Mitch hated him. It was so brief but as Tim walked away, still surprised, he wipes away just one tear. BUT Kojo starts to whimper, cuz he's picks up on Tim's feelings. BUT...I laughed when Tim says looks down 2 Kojo & says,"Not a word " to LOL not wanting Kojo to somehow tell others about this!!! It was perfect & precious b/c most dogs have this uncanny ability to pick up on our emotions esp those closest 2 them. They're like angels with fur on them & both unless abused have no ego & communicate what they're feeling & also bring healing b/c they disarm us. I have the episode where Tim wz on his day off & been with Kujo, "Man of Honor " Tim lol, yells at Kojo like when he's his T.O. tough guy mode, cuz they're literally almost home. BUT even Kojo can see thru Tim's tough facade & suddenly Tim goes from angry to pleading with Kojo & then days ago steak. And then of course he runs in the house.

But the clip u showed of Tim w/ Kojo in this video, what season & episode is it?!?!
The person who made the video of how they ALL knew!!!! And it's more funny but great & shows thoughts. I think it's called, "Everybody Knows." Ppl were saying they wanted another video like this, of showing thots of sum other ppl. It begins 2 w/ a tiny segment of Jackson & Lopez & again a thumbs up 👍 2 hve his presence in that video though it tiny. Everyone said, they wanted 2c Thorsen B/C he seems to CHANNEL US!!!!! When esp in the last episode, when Lucy tells him that she needs 2 break up w/ Chris, he suddenly says quite strongly but it wz a little comedic 2 when he says, "FINALLY!!!!"

I added that I'd love 4 them who made this video 2 show Kojo's thots, esp when he growls & barks at Ashley. Telling Ashley that she's not his mom & doesn't want her here!!!!! Sorry this is long. BUT... I'm curious what episode wz this of Tim with Kujo?!?! And curious also who was singing this song?!?! I had never heard it before.

I absolutely adore this! I love the way you often lead into the lyrics with the action, instead of the lyric coming in at the same time as the corresponding action, like at 3:37. It’s so artful and really makes the lyrics stand out more when they’re just slightly delayed for emphasis. Also, 2:24?? “I think we could be great if we…” “Yeah, I bet we would.” OOF. Masterful! So well done, from start to finish!! 💖

I loved how the show dont rushed their relationship

@JerseyGirlMel

Beautifully done! You can feel the love and the sensuality as their relationship develops and the song choice was absolutely in tune with every moment! This is the kind of relationship just about every woman looks for and few are lucky enough to find. I know they're only acting, but their acting is superb!
