Spring
Tim and Ryan O'Neill Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I WANDERED WAY BACK IN THE MOUNTAINS
I WAS SEARCHING FOR FORTUNE & FAME
I FOUND WHERE THE WATER RUNS DEEP
FROM THE HILLS
THEY CALL IT THE MEDICINE SPRINGS
THEY CALL IT THE MEDICINE SPRINGS
IT WAS THERE I MET A FAIR MAIDEN YELLOW
HAIR AND BIG EYES OF BLUE
SHE TOLD ME ONE DAY SHE LOVED ONLY ME
THAT SHE'D FOREVER BE TRUE
THAT SHE'D FOREVER BE TRUE
I WANTED THE BEST FOR MY DARLING
BUT MY POCKETS WERE EMPTY AND BARE
MY LOVE WAS SO GREAT FOR THIS DARLING
OF MINE I TOOK WHAT ANOTHER MAN HAD
I TOOK WHAT ANOTHER MAN HAD
AS I SIT HERE ALONE IN THIS JAILHOUSE
WITH A LETTER I CAN'T HARDLY READ
IT SAYS MY DARLING HAS LEFT THIS OLD
WORLD SHE'S WAITING IN HEAVEN FOR ME
SHE'S WAITING IN HEAVEN FOR ME
SOMEDAY I'LL GO BACK TO THE MOUNTAINS
WHERE I'LL SPEND THE REST OF MY DAYS
AND THE WATER THAT RUNS FROM THE SIDE
OF THE HILL WILL WATER HER FLOWERY

GRAVE,
WILL WATER HER FLOWERY GRAVE

Overall Meaning

The song "Medicine Springs" by Tim and Ryan O'Neill tells a story of a man who goes on a search for fortune and fame in the mountains. He stumbles upon a spring with deep water that the locals call Medicine Springs. There he meets a fair maiden with yellow hair and blue eyes, who professes her love for him. However, his pockets are empty and bare, and in a desperate attempt to provide the best for his darling, he steals from another man. The consequence of his actions catches up with him, as he ends up alone in jail with a letter revealing that his love has passed away and is waiting for him in heaven.

The song portrays the consequences of greed, and how it can lead to a tragic end. The singer's desire to provide for his beloved drives him to commit a crime that ultimately lands him in jail, where he is left to regret his actions. The song also touches on themes such as love, loss, and redemption. The singer acknowledges his mistake and hopes to spend the rest of his days in the mountains, near his lover's final resting place.

anyone that served our nation (veteran) ask yourself this question and reflect on the (proper) answer from your toughest/most challenging time in the military and/or "deployed":

in 2011+; were these personnel fighting (each other/in print and media) over this "trophy" status the core of (the) abyss of our nations (ability) to conduct such an operation then, today and in the future.

from such a "2-prong" operation the overt depth of "look" at me. it was "me" is amazing. it is not "a" free pass (a trident); but it is "earned" (within context).

the "silence" of inertia to complete that mission is not "overt". although mr. o'neil's words "are" overt, actual, and on "video". i am (so) glad it gets him "some" free drinks in domestic/"international" airports.

great "YT" marketing.

@afg3643

these tip of the "spear" interviews are good. some (not most) but some commucnate the interlecaul/educated process of how they got to where "they" were; and that can assist/help others the same (in any field).

many just yap of "that" mission and this "mission" and there "i" was. always stating they are not revealing sensitive information/missions.

i was in mazar-e-shariff when (DoD) this mission (occurred). towards the end of the year 2011 i met (in a DFAC/eating) in kabul; a detachment of helo/blackhawk mechanics just at that base for a few days.

no there was no "bragging" of there "i" was in this big mission (if they were).

but the E8 stated indirectly about the mission; would "any" of them (operators) would have gotten (bin laden mission/may 2011) to that courtyard if those helos were not in "top" performing condition due to the mechanics/teamwork?

he was correct then as he is "today".; "heroes" are not all in the front line news nor should they be for operational purposes.

if you ask many (oneil) you would think the rigged, fixed, prepped and fueled the helos "themselves" and since it was "about" them and only "them".

When the interviewer stays quiet most of the time, that’s when you know you’re about to get a good interview. This is by far one of the best interviews I’ve seen ever.

@davidcoryell2318

That's because you're brainwashed.
