En vecka med
Timbuktu Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
These lyrics, taken from Timbuktu's song "En vecka med," depict the struggles of the artist trying to cut down on smoking cigarettes while dealing with a busy and challenging lifestyle. The first few lines express his difficulty in reducing his cigarette consumption, as he takes one every other hour. His writing process cannot keep up with his thoughts and his hand struggles to catch up. The flow of rhymes is compared to the constant ringing of a phone, happening more often than not.
The next lines describe late nights and a lifestyle that is like a trap. Timbuktu acknowledges the need for change but emphasizes that it is far from simple and straightforward. He is stuck in a mindset that only brings half-hearted efforts, sabotaging his own progress. Despite being ill with a cold for three days, it is becoming tiresome, and his sick attitude does not seem to be curable. The imagery of tissue papers, cigarette butts, and patched-up memories symbolizes a cluttered and unhealthy state of mind.
With fever, a painkiller, and drops of echinacea, Timbuktu tries to heal his body by lying on the couch. Meanwhile, the television shows more negativity and the pharmacy sells expensive medicine. He encourages others to blow their nose loudly if they feel the same way and suggests embracing a cup of tea in their hands as a way to find comfort and solace.
Overall, "En vecka med" reveals Timbuktu's struggle to break free from destructive habits while facing the challenges of daily life. It highlights the difficulty of change and the need for self-care in the face of negativity.
