Thank you for this! What's the source of the map at 9:46? I grew up in Bantam, and I've always been fascinated by the roads that got cut in half by the lake. I'd love to get a high-resolution picture of that map.

Aaron, you can find old survey and TOPO maps online that will show this information.

Great job! Ran across this while attempting my own research on the subject. My grandparents had a farm there. I'm trying to find any information as to when they moved there & when they were bought out/moved. Not sure where to start to find the records as any search I do online provides nothing. I realize that the records would be from the 1970s so I may need to physically find them.

Laura, you can find old survey and TOPO maps online that will show this information. Also, Clermont County GIS system is online on the county's website that will have this information.

I do a lot of subcontract work around east fork lake. I have seen dozens of abandoned and overgrown lots that used to be homes before the lake project forced people out. Foundations, driveways, overgrown landscaping, and even flowers from back in the day are still observable! I have even seen large wooden beams along the lakeshore that were once part of a house or barn from the depths of the lake. It’s fascinating and captivating to think about what was once there before the park took it over. It is also sad to think about all of the families and history that disappeared from that area as a result.

several places where they have removed the dams (or they failed) all the local household wells dried up

I know someone connected to the planning. He bought farmland on what would end up being shoreline. Made a fortune.
