It isn't hard to understand
You're just a story
Too late to be sorry
Too late to untell what you're wishing you could change
I know you're haunted
By all that you wanted
By all that you didn't recognize
When it was yours

Nailed to the seat

Blood driven tale for you to read
Why don't you stay?

Lost in the most silent rhymes
Spun by a man that lost his voice
You're just a story
Too late to be sorry
Too late to untell what you're wishing you could change
I know you're haunted
By all that you wanted
By all that you didn't recognize
When it was yours
It's all that you've got
Now
It's all that you're not
Now
You're a different story
Too good to be sorry
Too good to untell what you're wishing you could change
I know you're haunted
By all that you wanted
By all that you didn't ever recognize
I know you're haunted
By all that you wanted
All that you didn't recognize
When it was yours
The lyrics of Tina Dico's "Haunted" is a powerful song about regret and nostalgia surrounding something that has already happened, and there's nothing one can do to change it. She paints a picture of someone sitting and watching their life pass them by, reminiscing about what they could have done differently. The first verse talks about a person watching a movie, and it seems like it's a metaphor for the person's life playing out before their eyes. They are sitting back and watching their time running out, and it's too late to change anything. The second verse describes reading a book, and the singer is "nailed to the seat," as if they are trapped or powerless to change the storyline. The haunting feeling of regret is palpable in the chorus, where Dico sings, "You're just a story, too late to be sorry, too late to untell what you're wishing you could change."
The bridge of the song is an acknowledgment that what is done is done, and there's nothing one can do to change the past. The line "It's all that you've got now, it's all that you're not now," reinforces this idea - what is done is done, and all that we're left with is the memories and regrets. The final chorus shifts the tone somewhat, with Dico singing "You're a different story, too good to be sorry," perhaps offering a glimmer of hope that the singer now sees things differently and will approach things differently in the future. However, the song ends with "all that you didn't ever recognize," giving us the impression that even if there is hope, the singer is still struggling with regret and will always carry that with them.
