Addicted to Love
Tina Turner Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The lights are on but you're not home
Your mind is not your own
Your body sweats, your body shakes
Another kiss is what it takes
You can't eat, you can't sleep
There's no doubt you're in deep
Your throat is tight, you can't breathe
Another kiss is all you need

You like to think that you're immune to the stuff, oh yeah
It's closer to the truth, you know
You're gonna have to face it
You might as well face it, you're addicted to love

You see the signs but you can't read
You're running at a different speed
Your heart beats at double time
Another kiss and you'll be mine
One-track mind, you can't be saved
Another young love is all you crave
And if the sun left you
You don't mind if you do

You like to think that you're immune to the stuff oh yeah
It's closer to the truth, you see
You're gonna have to face it
You're gonna have to face that you're addicted to love

You might as well face it, you're addicted to love

She sings rock with a lot of soul...She had her own style and wasn't afraid to express herself through her singing and performance...Simply the best

She sings ROCK N' ROLL. When she reinvented herself she left the R&B music and world behind and didn't give a damn.
People have all kinds of expectations about her, her race, her music. The fact is she was TOTALLY in on The Stones, David Bowie etc. etc. and said I sing ROCK. Not only that, she moved to Europe. In the U.S. she was a 'major attraction'
but in Europe her concerts are an EVENT on par with The Stones and the top tier of rock. Like others before her, (Josephine Baker for instance) she no longer wanted to be 'a black woman in America' even a famous black woman.
She wanted to be free of race as 'identity'. Smart move. Since she left America has made race EVERYTHING.
