Between 2007 and 2011, Tinashe was a member of the girl group the Stunners. Following their disbandment, she released the positively-reviewed self-recorded mixtapes In Case We Die (2012) and Reverie (2012). Following their success, Tinashe signed with RCA Records and released her third mixtape, Black Water (2013). Her debut single, "2 On" (featuring Schoolboy Q; produced by Mustard), reached number one on the Rhythmic airplay chart, and peaked at number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100.[4] Her debut studio album, Aquarius (2014), was noted by music critics as one of the most "solid" debuts by a new female artist in years. The album garnered her nominations for Soul Train and BET Awards.[5] Her collaboration with Snakehips and Chance the Rapper, "All My Friends", won the Ivor Novello Award for Best Contemporary Song in 2016.[6] The same year, Tinashe appeared on Britney Spears' single "Slumber Party", which topped Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart. Tinashe's second studio album, Nightride (2016), reached number eight on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart in the US. Joyride (2018), her third studio album, peaked at number 58 on the Billboard 200 chart and reached number six on the UK R&B Albums chart. After departing RCA, Tinashe independently released the albums Songs for You (2019), 333 (2021) and BB/Ang3l (2023).

Where did we go wrong? Never saw it comin'
I don't even know, how are we gonna move on?
Somewhere in between, fallin' apart
And figurin' out what it all still means
Can't just be friends it hurt way too much
Pourin' my heart into your cup
And every time I think you're done, you come around
Usin' me up
Last call, oh
Here's to the tears, yeah, I'm givin' it up
Last call, oh
Cheers to the years I was
Pourin' my heart into your cup
Didn't know every time you came around
I end it up wasted in love
Last call, oh
You've been sleepin', you've been sleepin'
On the weeknight, on the weekend
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Comin' over, barely sober
On a weeknight, always open
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Can't just be friends it hurt way too much
Guess that's just life, you left me with not enough
Pourin' my heart into your cup
And every time I think you're done, you come around
Usin' me up
Last call, oh
Here's to the tears, yeah, I'm givin' it up
Last call, oh
Cheers to the years I was
Pourin' my heart into your cup
Didn't know every time you came around
I end it up wasted in love
Last call, oh
You've been sleepin', you've been sleepin'
On the weeknight, on the weekend
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Comin' over, barely sober
On a weeknight, always open
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Usin' me up
Last call, oh
Here's to the tears, yeah, I'm givin' it up
Last call, oh
Cheers to the years I was
Pourin' my heart into your cup
Didn't know every time you came around
I end it up wasted in love
Last call, oh (last call)
Last call, oh
Last call, oh
Tinashe's "Last Call" is a popular and relatable song about the pain and confusion of a failed relationship. The singer of the song is heartbroken and questioning where things went wrong. The tone is reflective and sad, with a sense of resignation to the situation at hand. The lyrics are full of vivid imagery and metaphors, as Tinashe describes how it feels to be used up and left with nothing.
The chorus of "Last Call" is particularly powerful, as Tinashe declares that this is the end of the line for this relationship. She raises a glass to the years that she poured her heart into the other person's cup, acknowledging the emotional investment that she made in the relationship. However, she also recognizes that every time the other person comes back into her life, she ends up "wasted in love." It's a poignant and heartbreaking realization that the other person doesn't value her the way she values them.
Overall, "Last Call" is a powerful ballad about the end of a relationship, the pain that comes with it, and the struggles of moving on.

Didn't take long to decide
That I can replace your body, oh
I made up my mind, oh
I ain't gonna chase nobody, oh
No, I never did that, no, I never did that
No, I never did that, no, I never will
Run back, baby, if you need that
But I won't guarantee that I want you still, I am
One in a million, made up my mind
I ain't gonna chase nobody, yeah
Won't be missed when you're gone (yeah)
I'm fine on my own
If there's something that's wrong
You should let me know
'Cause I won't stay for long (oh)
If you act brand new
I can't change your tune, yeah
If you change up, I'ma change up too (change up)
So fast I can switch my moods
Never catch me runnin' back to you (oh)
Yеah, if you act up, I'ma act up too (up too)
I do me while you do you
'Cause at thе end of the day, you know I tried
Didn't take long to decide
That I can replace your body, oh
I made up my mind, oh
I ain't gonna chase nobody, oh
No, I never did that, no, I never did that
No, I never did that, no, I never will
Run back, baby, if you need that
But I won't guarantee that I want you still, I am (ayy)
One in a million, made up my mind
I ain't gonna chase nobody, yeah
Oh-oh-oh
Yeah
Oh-oh-oh
Yeah (oh-oh-oh)
Oh-oh-oh

I ain't gonna chase nobody
No, I never did that, no, I never did that
