Between 2007 and 2011, Tinashe was a member of the girl group the Stunners. Following their disbandment, she released the positively-reviewed self-recorded mixtapes In Case We Die (2012) and Reverie (2012). Following their success, Tinashe signed with RCA Records and released her third mixtape, Black Water (2013). Her debut single, "2 On" (featuring Schoolboy Q; produced by Mustard), reached number one on the Rhythmic airplay chart, and peaked at number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100.[4] Her debut studio album, Aquarius (2014), was noted by music critics as one of the most "solid" debuts by a new female artist in years. The album garnered her nominations for Soul Train and BET Awards.[5] Her collaboration with Snakehips and Chance the Rapper, "All My Friends", won the Ivor Novello Award for Best Contemporary Song in 2016.[6] The same year, Tinashe appeared on Britney Spears' single "Slumber Party", which topped Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart. Tinashe's second studio album, Nightride (2016), reached number eight on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart in the US. Joyride (2018), her third studio album, peaked at number 58 on the Billboard 200 chart and reached number six on the UK R&B Albums chart. After departing RCA, Tinashe independently released the albums Songs for You (2019), 333 (2021) and BB/Ang3l (2023).
Remember When

Fallin' so easy
Why am I so reckless with my heart?
Why oh no, ooh
But I just wanna love you, I just wanna love you
I just wanna love you
Love you in spite of it, everything
I just wanna kiss you, I just wanna hold you
Need you inside of me
Do you remember when
We went to the park at night
And told you how I felt? I'll never forget
I hope you know I meant
I hope you know I meant
Every word I said
Every word I said to you, babe
I was made for it
Ooh
Pickin' up the pieces of a mess
But I feel like myself again, ooh, oh
I Think I saw forever in your eyes, eyes
Know the situation's pretty complicated
I just wanna go back, if we could foster it, no
Hopin' you're not just playin' with my emotions
Or maybe I'm just stupid
Do you still believe in it?
Do you remember when
Made you those promises?
I'll never forget, I'll never forget
I hope you know I meant
I hope you I meant
Every word I said
every word I said to you, babe
Ooh, oh, ooh, oh yeah
Ooh, oh, ooh, oh, ooh
And I hope you know I meant it, hey
I know, I know
I, I
Know, know, know, know
In Tinashe's song "Remember When," the singer explores the complexities of love, falling deeply for someone but feeling unsure and reckless with her own emotions. She wants to love and be loved in return, despite knowing that there are obstacles and challenges that they will face. The song opens with Tinashe contemplating falling in love again, acknowledging that it may not be the wisest decision, but she cannot help the way she feels. She wants to love the person despite everything and expresses this in the chorus by saying she wants to kiss, hold and touch them, and even have them inside of her.
The second verse of the song refers to a specific memory of a time spent with the love interest, going to the park at night and Tinashe telling them how she felt about them. She reflects on this moment and hopes that they understood the sincerity and truthfulness of her words, as she meant every word she said. The chorus repeats, emphasizing the depth of her emotions and desires.
