That's where we always meet
Hiding in shadows where we don't belong
Living in darkness to hide our wrong
You and me at the dark end of the street
You and me
I know time is gonna take its toll
It's a sin, and we know it's wrong
But our love keeps coming on strong
Steal away to the dark end of the street
And when the daylight hour rolls around
If by chance we should walk downtown
If we should meet, just walk on by
Oh darling, please don't cry
Tonight we'll meet at the dark end of the street
You and me
They're gonna find us
They're gonna find us
They're gonna find us
Oh, some day
You and me at the dark end of the street
You and me
The lyrics to Tinga Stewart and Ninjaman's "Cover Me" paint the picture of two lovers who share a forbidden love. The dark end of the street represents the seedy and dangerous place where these two lovers meet. In this place, they hide in the shadows, fully aware that they do not belong there, and they live in darkness to conceal their wrongdoing. The lyrics suggest that what they have between them is an affair, and that they both know it is a sin, yet their love is so strong that they keep coming back to each other. The lovers fully understand the risks involved in their clandestine activities, and they share the knowledge that someday they may be caught.
The lyrics of the song suggest that they are aware of the consequences of their actions. They know that time will eventually catch up with them, and they will have to pay for what they have done. The lovers are fully aware that their actions are wrong, but their passion is so great that they cannot stay away from each other. The lyrics of the song suggest that they will continue to meet and steal away to the dark end of the street, no matter how dangerous or risky it may be.
Overall, the lyrics of "Cover Me" explore themes of forbidden love, passion, and the darkness that can sometimes overwhelm people's emotions. The song suggests that sometimes people are willing to take extreme risks in pursuit of their desires, even when they know full well that what they are doing is wrong.
