The only problem I have with this game is it doesn't tell you anything. It worked in linear games because it was in your path but this is an open world, it should give you at least a progress tracker. Great game ruined by bad design, my final score is 8/10.

@RoverIt is not bad design, the map is bottom up, bottom is easiest and it progresses upwards, so logically if you just go up you’ll reach the end game. Plus every npc and item description hints at either lore or places to travel too. As an example Gideon tells you where to find all 7 shard bearers. Medallions tell you to find the other half to use a lift to another map section, quest item descriptions all hint at their intended locations are named after the location they belong to or are directly related to where you’ll be forced to travel.

Just some examples. You claim that a quest log is needed, but it’s never been needed in a souls game because the progression is all the same, linear it’s simply in a bigger scale this time. But if you take your time, read item descriptions and explore you’ll find your way around the world easily. Plus all the roads lead somewhere. If you take all of that into consideration it should be a 10/10 for you.

Good strategy for Astel is get ahold of the rotten breath for the Dragon church and use that to give him scarlet rot. Makes fighting easier because you don't have to run across the boss arena to get a hit. He'll be takin constant damage while you are going after him

I didn’t want nothing ill to happen to Blaidd and Iji, but such fate must come to them. Their deaths will never be forgotten. Blaidd helped me obtained an early powerful weapon that aid me well in the quest, and Iji helped add more strength to the high weapons and being a gentle giant as well.

If you follow this questline video, there is a very important step that you must do before you hand Ranni the Fingerslayer Blade. At 5:07, after you get the Fingerslayer Blade, don't go to Ranni just yet. The Magical Scorpion Charm is one of the top 5 talismans in the game, and you can't get it once Seluvius is dead. He dies once Ranni is given the blade. You get the charm by giving Preceptor Seluvis the Amber Starlight after Seluvis tells you about his scheme, but it cannot be obtained after Seluvius' death (which occurs when the Fingerslayer Blade is given to Ranni the Witch)
This makes it the only Scorpion Charm you can lock yourself out of getting in a playthrough.

@Yousef Barzani try to use rotten breath and bait the Astel with your mimic tear ash. Super easy but take time. Need to use 6 times of rotten breath i guess. 3 times for the first half then another 3 times until that thing die

there’s so much stuff you can miss with such a large quest line. I wifed up Ranni before I got blaidds armor set in front of rannis rise. I was so surprised that Blaidd was still alive cuz I thought I killed him in the ainsley river section😅, and then talking to Iji and he’s still talking about Blaidd being stuck in the evergaol, it’s such a strange experience if you happen to not do it in order.

One thing I found creepy/amazing is the way you find Ranni once you’re done with the dragon. The hole leading up to her seems so crude, you’d expect ladders or something but rather it seems like it was being dig. I think that upon seeing Ranni the Fingers attempted to escape, if you look closely it seems as if they couldn’t dig any deeper.

I also wonder why Ranni was without her dress and two arms laying limp, that I’m afraid I can’t even begin to imagine, you can however tell that (the face on the doll at least) seemed at peace, though it seems that the doll is not hosting her soul as you can’t see the ethereal face that you usually see.

I recommend using fully upgraded sword of night and flame combined with the mimic tear summon to beat Astel, the flame works well for close combat but you can spam the mini comet attack and you will do tons of damage.

Not exactly “cheese” but with the Samurai build I’m running I use the Rain of Arrows Ash of War on my great bow. It shreds through Astel; you just need to ensure you time your shots right. Hope this helps someone with a similar build! Great guide overall btw. Recently picked up this game and have been binging your quest line vids. By far the best and most informative ER guides.

It hurts that we had to kill Blaidd, but at the same time I'm glad he went out fighting. Usually when an NPC dies, we unsearmoniously come across their dead body in the location we usually find them in. I'm glad we got the honor of actually seeing Blaidd go out, even if it had to be by our own hands

Hello everyone! I was struggling on Astel for a while but I found a really powerful spell that destroyed Astel in a matter of minutes the spell is called “Ancient Dragons Lightening strike” if you are struggling on Astel I would advise watching a tutorial on getting the spell I mentioned earlier, when you get the spell cast it near Astels head it deals alot of damage. The spell is great against other bosses such as dragon lord placidusax and many more, I hope this helps(btw this guide was amazing it really helped me thank you it’s shatter😀 for another great video!)

Before you can use the spell to cure scarlet rot you need to buy a seal in order to use it. Go to the twin sisters at the hold.

I just finally beat him my technique was soon as I came in I summon the lone wolf ashes to keep him off me then dogged his attacks till I could get close to him then used meteorite in between dodging his attacks till I got him down to one last hit and used rennalas full moon to get that last hit so I could dodge whil the moon was on its way to get that final hit and it worked it was hard but finally got it

Example for the astel cheese. Have a mimic tear summon and swarm of flies incantation with ~4 cerulean tear pots, maybe 5 if you havent touched your mind stat at all. The bleed ticks from the flies will chunk the boss for about 1/8 to 1/7 of his health each time so just let him agro onto the mimic which also be using the incantation and applying bleed and yeah. There is a vid on YT somewhere of a guy doing this with no upgraded stats or armour with just a finger ring and caldian shield.

@MiggleTheMiglet yh. Something that may help also is the talisman shabriris woe from the frienzied village in the top right of liurnia. Equip it before summoning the mimic then unequip after summon then it will force the boss to aggro only onto the mimic so even when you do damage from the incantation he shouldnt then turn to attack you instead
