Strange timing, I suppose
I was taken by your eyes
Fascinated by your mind
I don't dream anymore
There's nothing but daylight stopping me
As I lie there awake, the hum of the air is soothing
And I hear you breathe
As I watch you sleep
And I hear you breathe
You've aged but haven't grown
You find the door but can't get out
You rely on what you found
You rely on what you found
I don't dream anymore
There's nothing but daylight stopping me
As I lie there awake, the hum of the air is soothing
As I watch you sleep
And I hear you breathe
As I watch you sleep
And I hear you breathe
The song "Snow" by Tiny Fireflies features dreamy, nostalgic lyrics backed by a shoegaze-inspired sound. The first verse sets the scene for the song, with the singer describing being taken by someone's eyes and fascinated by their mind. The second verse takes a more introspective turn, with the singer admitting that they don't dream anymore and feeling held back by the daylight. The chorus brings the focus back to the person they are watching sleep, finding comfort in the sound of their breathing. The final verse returns to the outside world, with the singer observing that the person they were watching is stuck in a rut and relying on what they have already found.
The lyrics of "Snow" seem to capture the feeling of being caught between nostalgia and a sense of being stuck in the present. The reference to not dreaming anymore could suggest a loss of hope or imagination, but the comfort found in watching someone sleep and listening to them breathe adds a layer of intimacy and vulnerability to the song. The shoegaze-inspired sound, with its ethereal vocals and heavy use of reverb, reinforces the dreamlike quality of the lyrics.
