I love how Blaire is never reluctant to show pictures of herself before she transitioned. It is so healthy that she can accept and acknowledge the salient elements of who she was prior to the transition, especially since that represents over 80% of her life at this point. Trauma is a word I reserve for actual trauma like being raped or in a war or something. 8:28 I love that you say this, because it's the sudden drop and/or inflation of estrogen that causes mood swings. People love to contribute those to high estrogen alone, but like you said, it affects how sad or happy you feel when you're sad or happy. It's how the female body suvives time. Estrogen's role is to help the mom protect and encourage and nurture young children to get back up after struggles (until independence [typically paired with weaning] about 2-ish/learns to walk) so if my kid gets a boo-boo, estrogen makes me cradle her and kiss the owie to make her smile so she can go on learning as she goes. (Men have natural estrogen which allows for this, too, but women tend to have way more) (Hence, mom teaches you how to get back up, and dad teaches how to throw a punch at the idiot who pushed you down in the first place). Didn't mean to go all out here, but yeah. I love that you mentioned those about estrogen.

She looks more like a girl than me, a cis woman. I’ve accepted the fact that I have some traditionally male traits in my face and simply take steps to accentuate my more female ones. I used to be very insecure about it. You can take action to feel better about yourself, but self acceptance is powerful. It probably helps I was homeschooled and was never really exposed to a lot of over sexualization of women. Blaire took action to feel better about herself, and I think that is powerful. She does not need other people to tell her how good she looks because she knows. she has helped me a lot in my journey to self acceptance. Thank you blaire. As a woman, I’m on estradiol as well. I have to take it bc I had a full hysterectomy when I was 30 due to complications from the birth of my last child. I agree if you miss a dose of estradiol I get moody, super mean, and I immediately have hot flashes. For me, my estradiol does make my hair thinner which has been hard for me to accept. And bc I had my thyroid taken out in my 20s, I have to take hormone replacements for that so I have a very very hard time LOSING weight. I am always tired. That will never go away. My mood and my emotions and mental state have definitely changed since having my full hysterectomy and having to take estradiol daily but you have to in order to stay sane. Haha 💛💛💛💛

As a note, finasteride also acts as a DHT blocker, which can definitely help those in transition. DHT is basically testosterone that the body processes, and is more androgenic.

I think the veins are less pronounced when you are on estrogen because women have an extra layer of fat. I think the fat hides some of the veins and helps with the softness of the skin.

Women have naturally higher fat percentage than men do. That's why womens' veins usually aren't visible, and their muscles aren't as visible as mens' are. Regardless how skinny anyone is.

@'Sara T' Yeah, it's the subcutaneous fat layer, the estradiol causes it to grow to a certain thickness around the entire body (not meaning the same thickness everywhere, but that it grows everywhere). It's why a woman's look is smoother overall - not just skin texture. It's not an extra layer, men have this layer, too, and it's dangerous when it grows around his waist.

Hey Blaire! I just wanted to say that I am going through a rough patch in my life where I feel very self conscious, self judgemental, and judged by others. I'm not LGBT, I just have a disability in school (I'm in university, so using accommodations can sometimes cause you to be questioned). I just have to say that seeing your confidence now, knowing how much you've gone through, and how much you've been judged by others is really reassuring since you got yourself through that by believing in yourself. @Games, Love, And Life So I am assuming that because of the hormones that the penis is basically non functional (at least in the terms of sex), correct? Also, I get wanting to further her father's bloodline, but what about the fiance? Doesn't he get a chance at a biological child too? Neither of them can produce female eggs, so a surrogate will have to be used, but that means even if viable sperm is able to be harvested from her, then it leaves the husband to be kind of out in the cold. Of course I'm sure that it has been discussed between them and it may not be a big concern, but I'm just wondering. And not judging, btw....way too much of that going on in the world for me to jump on the anti bandwagon.

I'm a biological female (19F) and have moderate acne which gets worse around my period. I'm thinking of taking spironolactone because it seems much safer than accutane. Any side effects you've gotten from taking it? Did you have acne before and did it reduce it for you?

The really amazing thing is, and this is probably because I know you this way, I can't get past thinking your original/older face is the "fake" one. For starters I have NEVER seen a nose job that good. Most rhinoplasty looks awful, except for you and Jennifer Gray. (her doctor was a master but he died). If I could get a nose job with the quality that you have, I'd do it in a second (hate hate hate my nose) but I have an eye for detail and nearly EVERY picture I look at, the nostrils are crooked. Often the nose looks so fake that the person looks off, like they usually wear glasses but took them off.
So congrats to you for finding yourself and educating the world. I identify with my gender but I have a feeling, with this videos, you help SO many people who don't.
