They consist of Patrick Stickles (vocals, guitar), Julian Veronesi (bass), Liam Betson (guitar) and Eric Harm (drums). The band takes its name from the Shakespeare play Titus Andronicus. Titus Andronicus is known for their energetic folk/punk/indie sound (tinted with hints of New Jersey rock and early rock 'n' roll) and their use of lo-fi production.
Their debut album, The Airing of Grievances, was released on the Troubleman Unlimited record label on April 14, 2008 to many positive reviews. The album's loud, heavily distorted guitars are influenced by shoegaze, while the lyrics and song titles are references to various books and other forms of entertainment (such as the album title, from the Seinfeld episode, "The Strike", about Festivus). The Airing of Grievances was reissued on January 20, 2009 on XL Recordings.
The band's second album, The Monitor, was released on March 9, 2010 through XL Recordings to wide critical acclaim, and was cited as one of the best indie albums of the year.
The band has a sizable list of former members, the latest of which, Amy Klein, left the band on October 24, 2011.

I used to like walking with my eyes down
I'd sleep all day and fret away the night hours
But then I saw the sun and felt its light's power
And I found out the planet ain't no private house
Now I turn a brave bully to a shy coward
I make a loud lout silent as a quiet mouse
Then I make them hand over the white cloud
And then they're leaving me with a polite bow
And I've got plans I haven't time to write down
I'll incite a riot, fire flying all around
When I'm crying out, I'm howling with the wild hounds
Don't wanna buy an ounce
For me, the right amount is the entire pound
I only like it when it's dimed out
I only like it when it's dimed out
I only like it when it's dimed out
When it's dimed out, when it's dimed out, when it's dimed out
I don't chase after clocks or calendars
I bow down not to masters, gods, nor managers
Cause all the greatest artists, they were amateurs
Unembarrassed, dressed in only bandages
And I don't read rules or adhere to rituals
I'm an impatient underdog indivisible
And my challengers are talentless imbeciles
When my chalice is full, I am invincible
I don't listen to parents or priests or principals
Inconsiderate of little individuals
When they ration out their miniscule residuals
Shit by the fistful
As long as there's a law, I'll be a criminal
I only like it when it's dimed out
I only like it when it's dimed out
I only like it when it's dimed out
When it's dimed out, when it's dimed out, when it's dimed out
When it's dimed out, when it's dimed out
When it's dimed out, when it's dimed out
I turned it up to four and couldn't feel it
I turned it up to five, it wasn't real yet
Turning it up to six wouldn't reveal it
Eight was reaching
Nine was decent, but
I really liked it when it dimed out
I only really like it when it's dimed out
I like, "like it" like it dimed out
I like it, like it, like it, like it dimed out
I only like it when it's dimed out
I only like it when it's dimed out
I only like it when it's dimed out
When it's dimed out, when it's dimed out, when it's dimed out
Whatever's inside, let it climb out
That was his plan and it's mine now

" Because all the great artist where amateurs"
What an anthem, deserves to listen to about a 100 more times this summer
@MagusMirificus
I'll go on record as saying this is the greatest punk rock song of the 2010's thus far. As much excitement crammed into a three-minute piece of music as possible. Up there with Anarchy in the U.K, Janie Jones, Blitzkrieg Bop, Turn On The News, etc.
@markdavidofficial4274
Ehhhhh....there’s not much of a memorable melody. Energy is great but there’s not the melody of any of those you listed
@Tehdurkniht
@Mark David Jones Music Don't really see how you can make that argument when most of the melodies listed are just I-IV
@glueball9511
i love some TA love but realistically this isnt even one of their best i feel like, despite it being timeless and great. Also as far as the 2010s go its hard to hold a candle to any of the immense early pop leaning tracks of iceage or even royal headache (on a single to single basis), but TA certainly did that i think, just earlier on. I honestly relate to this guys exurberance, i definately just love the band more than i might TRULY love some whatever they are putting out contemporarily (clearly dating myself, been listening since 2012 and this song is about 8 years old now lol) but yeah i forced myself to love this album whereas it was impossible to not fall in love with airing of grievances or the monitor when i first came across. ya feel me
