Rosario was born in Higuey, a province in the Dominican Republic. Since childhood, he and his brothers showed interest in music, even playing self-created instruments like bottle caps, plastic containers, and others. Soon they started singing and playing in the neighbourhood and started what would later be known as Los Hermanos Rosario with whom he enjoyed great success later.
In the late 80s, after 12 years with his brothers, Toño decided to abandon the group and started his own solo career. He debuted April 14, 1990 in the Roberto Clemente Coliseum of Puerto Rico. He went on to become one of the most popular merengue singers with some of his albums reaching platinum status.
Alegria
Toño Rosario Lyrics

It is the night of our dear Savior's birth
Long lay the world in sin and error pining
Till he appeared and the soul felt it's worth
A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks, a new and glorious morn
Fall on your knees, oh, hear the angel voices
Oh night divine, oh night when Christ was born
Oh night, oh our Savior
A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks, a new and glorious morn
Fall on your knees, oh, hear the angel voices
Oh night divine, oh night when Christ was born
Oh night divine, oh night, O holy night, oh
Toño Rosario's song "Alegria" is a lively and upbeat tribute to the joy and happiness that comes with enjoying the moment. The lyrics speak of enjoying the present, forgetting the past and the future and savoring the current state of being. In contrast to the traditional Christmas hymn "O Holy Night," which speaks of the birth of Jesus Christ and the hope and joy it brought to the world.
In "Alegria," Rosario sings about letting go of worries and fears and living life to the fullest. The "thrill of hope" in "O Holy Night" is replaced by a "thrill of joy" in "Alegria." The song is a celebration of life and all it has to offer, encouraging people to live in the moment and not take anything for granted.
Overall, "Alegria" is a beautiful and uplifting song that reminds us of the importance of enjoying the present moment and finding joy and happiness wherever we can.
