Funeral
To Kill a King Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Just a box of bones
Lowered and marked with a stone
In the north at the mountains feet
In the north to find some peace
Sing and dance like we were young
Scream all the joy in your lungs oh
Half with a heavy heart
But not with shocked feet

(Bridge)
Oh passion, and oh passion

(Chorus)
I must make more friends
They'll be hanging at my funeral
Just to make my parents proud
Just to make my parents smile

Skin under crippled skies
Tell the stories of most of our lives
We go alone but the past holds us here
We go alone but the past holds us here
Let's sing and dance and talk
Of all the dumb things I was before
Halfwith a heavy heart
Half to relieve my fault

(Bridge and Chorus)

Coming around, when you coming around?
Coming around, coming around

(Bridge and Chorus) X2

I must make more friends...

Just to make my parents smile, make them smile
Make them laugh

Overall Meaning

“Funeral” by To Kill a King is a song that on the surface appears to be about death, but it is more about how we lead and live our lives in the present while reflecting on the past. The lyrics "Just a box of bones, lowered and marked with a stone” paint the picture of a somber funeral service. The next line, "In the north at the mountain's feet, in the north to find some peace," suggests the preference of the deceased to be laid to rest in a peaceful place, close to nature.

The song continues with a call to celebrate, "Sing and dance like we were young, scream all the joy in your lungs," indicating a desire to have a joyful celebration, instead of a mournful gathering. The chorus highlights the importance of human connections in life, "I must make more friends, they'll be hanging at my funeral, just to make my parents proud, just to make my parents smile." The lyrics convey a message of regret, that the desire for more friendships was not realized earlier.

The second verse touches on the richness of human experiences, "Skin under crippled skies, tell the stories of most of our lives," recognizing that we all have a story, whether it is good or bad, that is worth sharing. The lines “We go alone but the past holds us here," emphasize the idea that, even after passing, our presence still holds power, and we remain in the memories of the people in our lives. The song concludes with the theme of wanting to be remembered fondly, "Just to make my parents smile, make them smile, make them laugh."

Yeah, at the end where the wheelchair is empty that kind of makes people think that the man in the wheelchair was never alive during this video (Made up), and the empty coffin as well.

But as others have said, he wants to go on one last adventure before he has to say goodbye to the man (Who is most likely his son or relative).

If you notice the kids with the blue skin just take the wheelchair and go over ramps in a skatepark, this proves the point that the man is not actually in the wheelchair.

Swayy_ Minecraft&More - The concept is a similar concept to that of Film 'Weekend at Bernies' which is also involves the use of Bernie's Dead Body. Students use His dead body for a scam run a niteclub. The chap in this video is played by 'To Kill a King' Lead singer. He has Died in the story so the Father takes the His Dead Son around in a wheelchair for one last look around before the Burial. (Hence the title 'Funeral') This song is an important Lession in how We All need to move Forward in Life & stay strong (Even in times of Trouble + Stress)

So I think Ralph is representing joy and the old man starts it and loses it. While happiness is going around to others the man is trying to find it again. When he finally does he realizes it was all gone
