These lyrics paint a picture of a person who knows they cannot avoid their fate: "We're destined to demise." With this knowledge, they are trying to make the most of their time and save up their pennies so that they can buy a boat big enough to save everyone. The person is aware that there is nothing they can do when it comes to their ultimate end, and no amount of talking will change that. The only thing that matters is what they can do right now, in the moment.
The next part of the lyrics talks about the power of thoughts and how they can take over a person's mind. When the thoughts are alone, they grow stronger; but when they are exposed, they can explode like a firework. The imagery of setting them loose like incarcerated air balloons is dark and haunting. It's almost as though the person is giving up on controlling their thoughts and instead letting them float into the air, where they will eventually die in a blaze of glory.
The end of the song switches back to the theme of love. The person is asking love to take their hand and lead them through the end, as they do not know how to handle it on their own. There is a sense of acceptance and surrender to the fact that death is inevitable, and all the person can do is hold onto love and try to make the most of the time they have left.
