SUCH a beautiful story of human empathy & mercy. I was raised in a neighborhood where there was basically an unspoken understanding from the age of 15 on: when you roamed the streets at night, you were at WAR w/ the police, and in this particular war, it was US vs. THEM. And that there were NO EXCEPTIONS to that rule, at ANY time, under ANY circumstances. Period. They were THE ENEMY. And THEN, when I was 17, I was arrested for trying to steal a dvd & when both officers who responded to the store's call came to get me from the security office, one of the two saw the opportunity of my being handcuffed behind my back & defenseless to start swinging me around by them, throwing me into tables & chairs & slamming me against doorframes & THEN he even purposely knocked my head into a concrete wall, face-first, all while chuckling along to himself about it. HILARIOUS. When we got out to the parking lot, the other officer told him she would drive me to the lock-up & he could head straight back to the precinct & get started on the paperwork. She said something like, "now it's MY turn", or something equally terrifying. And then a few blocks away, she pulled over next to a vacant lot, got out, came around to the back of the patrol car on my side & opened my door & I thought "uh oh, here comes the nightstick"... and then she got me out, stood me up & apologized to me for what her partner had done. She told me they had both only just recently graduated from academy & the guy was just way too gung-ho about punishing criminals himself, before they even saw a judge. She even loosened up my cuffs a few ratchet clicks to allow blood flow back into my hands because he'd closed them too tight on purpose & my hands were going blue. I SWEAR to you she was CRYING..... THAT'S when I realized there were plenty of kind & decent people on BOTH sides, as well as both sides ALSO having dishonest criminals within their ranks. That day changed my life for the better. I hope, whoever that officer was & wherever she happens to be right now, that she is safe & well & has had a good life these past 23 years since. She deserves it.

I was working a temp job for event staff in ft worth back in the 00's and got tasked to take some supplies down to the panther island pavilion one morning. I get down there and there's people all over the stage setting up stuff. Just another day. Then a sound check began, and the next thing I knew it was The Toadies doing this whole song full out. I always work weekends my whole life so never get to do anything or see anything. It was really something to get to see and they did the whole song at concert level. Made my day.

Loved it,but MTV was new and played music ... Videos. Grunge picked up in '91 with Nirvana,STP,Pearl Jam and The Temple of the dog ... Spin Doctors,too. Lol. Music goes from glam rock to grunge and R&B,Hip-hop and rap were coming in at full force in '93,especially when Onyx dropped out with their summer song "Jam" ... Life was definitely different. Lol. I graduated 96. Seemed like daily there was badass music coming out. It was just normal in the 90's. Didn't realize that would come to a screeching halt, never to return. Nirvana, AIC, toadies, bush, live, pearl jam, candlebox, butthole surfers, smashing pumpkins, greenday, weezer, STP, NIN, rage, chili peppers, soundgarden, radio head, tool, blind melon, etc, etc.

Im 42. I sing this song at a slower pace, kind of hunting acapello tone, and I do so at random, usually while doing remedial tasks. I always assumed that my kids just kind of tuned me out but the other day as I'm switching over laundry and singing this song my eleven-year-old asked "when you were a teenager why did alot of songs have really weird words in them?"
... I'm still trying to come up with an accurate answer LOL they definitely did have some interesting lyrics and somehow I always found way to translate them in a way that related to what I had going on at the time.

Those are my favorite drummers 1, 2, and 3 and the album I've put the most time into the kit would be LZ IV and physical graffiti admittedly like this song I haven't completely mastered any of them, but I'll get it down in good time. Ringo could play to a song better than anyone ever born or to be born and Bonham had the speed, power, and feel of a Godlike being playing some primitive contraption we call a drum set. Rock music was so melodic and fire in the 90's! As a Black teenage male back then, I easily could listen to most rock music while also listening to Wu-Tang, 8Ball & MJG, 2Pac, etc. Because the rock was so melodic and the bands seemed authentic and not corny and contrived like today's music.

I remember when this came out it took me about 5-10 seconds and I loved it. The guitar to kick off the song is just killer. I know I read about the subject meaning and from what I can recall it is pretty dark and follows pretty close to the visuals in this video.
