The band formed in 1989. Toadies officially disbanded in 2001, although they had farewell concerts in 2002. The band reformed for a reunion show on March 11, 2006, headlining the Greenville Ave St. Patrick's Day parade concert.
Toadies toured extensively throughout the 1990s, opening for such artists as Red Hot Chili Peppers, White Zombie, Bush, and The Butthole Surfers. They also headlined and co-headlined tours with acts such as Brutal Juice, Baboon, Supersuckers, and The Reverend Horton Heat.
The primary reason for the breakup of the band was that Lisa Umbarger simply did not want to be a part of it anymore, and bandleader Todd Lewis felt that the band could not continue without her.
Since disbanding, members of the band have gone on to other projects. Todd Lewis is now in The Burden Brothers and Mark Reznicek is now in Eleven Hundred Springs.
Toadies reunited for 4 shows in Texas in March 2007. They played one show in Dallas, one in Houston, and two shows in Austin at Stubb's BBQ. All of the shows sold out shortly after they went onsale.
Toadies reunited for good in 2008, releasing their new album, "No Deliverance" on August 15th 2008.
In June 2010 it was announced that Feeler, the follow-up album to Rubberneck that was shelved by Interscope, would finally be seeing a release. Todd Lewis was quoted as saying: "Since there are unfinished versions floating around on the Internet, it is important to us that people hear it as we meant it to be." The album was released on July 20, 2010

From my confession
Now's the time, the time is now to stare it down
Balanced on this waterfall
I'm everyone who's ever done you any wrong
Now's the time, the time is now,
Now's the time, the time is now
And I wait for the right moment
Over and over it slips bye
Laugh, a nervous laugh
Laugh as that agitation drops away
Now's the time, the time is now
Now's the time to stare it down
I'll take you to where the sands in runs to the sea
I have found a waterfall in myself,
The water falls to the sea to be forgot
I have hurt the one I love
Now's the time, the time is now
Now's the time, the time is now
Now's the time to stare it down
Now's the time to stare it down
Now's the time, the time is now
I have found a waterfall in myself,
The water falls to the sea to be forgot
I have hurt the one I love
One I love!
The lyrics of the Toadies' song Waterfall are heavy with emotions and introspection. The first lines of the song, "Lips are numb from my confession, now's the time, the time is now to stare it down", suggest that the singer has finally gathered the courage to face the consequences of their actions. The term "stare it down" implies that the singer is ready to face the truth of their mistakes head-on, no matter how difficult it may be. The metaphor of being "balanced on this waterfall" further emphasizes the precariousness of the situation.
The second part of the song talks about the singer waiting for the right moment to come clean about their wrongdoings. However, this moment keeps slipping by, causing the singer to laugh nervously as they try to find the courage to confront their mistakes. The repetition of "now's the time" serves as a reminder to the singer that they need to act now in order to make things right.
The last section of the song features the powerful lines "I have found a waterfall in myself, the water falls to the sea to be forgot, I have hurt the one I love." Here, the waterfall is used as a metaphor for the singer's inner turmoil and the pain they have caused to their loved one. The imagery of the water falling into the sea "to be forgot" suggests that the singer is seeking forgiveness and hoping to move past their mistakes, but they are also aware that the damage they have caused may never truly be forgotten.
