Formed in the Rio Grande Valley, the original members included guitarists Danny McKenna, Balde Silva, Art Mendoza, bassist Steve Zipper and drummer Rob Young. After numerous club performances around South Texas, the band moved to San Antonio, Texas and received a major record deal from RCA (now BMG). This deal would recruit the production talents of Sean Delaney, who at the time was also producing KISS. In addition, guitarist Mendoza was replaced with guitarist and banjoist extraordinaire Ron Rose, who added a country flavor to the band.
Their self-titled debut LP appeared on RCA in 1978, with the single "My Angel Baby" topping the easy-listening charts and falling just shy of the pop Top Ten; 1979's More than a Love Song failed to recapture its predecessor's success, however, and after issuing If You Believe a year later, Toby Beau was dropped from their contract. The band continued playing the Texas club circuit during the decades that followed, however, still with Silva at the helm.

Just this mornin' you cried about last night
You said that somethin's bound to break this time
What's breakin' is my heart
I can read between the lines
It's tearin' me apart
You've got leavin' on your mind
But you're my angel Baby
Yes, you're my angel Baby
Woah, you're my angel Baby
For the rest of the night
Do you remember how it used to be
Lovin' was easier when you were lovin' me
I guess you found someone and now I find
What's breakin' is my heart
You've got leavin' on your mind
[Chorus: ]
What's breakin' is my heart
I can read between the lines
It's tearin' me apart
You've got leavin' on your mind
But you're my angel Baby
For the rest of the night
(angel baby) the rest of the night
(angel baby, angel Baby) the rest of the night
(angel baby) the rest of the night
(angel baby) the rest of the night
In Toby Beau’s song My Angel Baby, a person is sensing that their partner is about to leave them. The lyrics convey the heartbreak and sadness the person is feeling as they have started to notice some changes in the relationship. They have picked up on some troubling signs such as their partner crying in the morning about the previous night and the realization that their partner has someone else in their life. This person may have to come to terms with the possibility of being alone once their partner leaves them. Even though they have been noticing the signs that their relationship is ending, they still hold onto hope that their partner will stay for one more night.
The lyrics indicate that the singer has vivid memories of how things used to be before the relationship began to falter. It highlights the fact that love was easier when the two were together, indicating the possibility that the person is coming to grips with the fact that their partner is "the one that got away." Despite everything, the chorus indicates that the singer still views the person they are losing as their "Angel Baby" for the rest of the night. This may symbolize that the singer is hopeful that things will still work out despite everything that has happened.
