Though little is known around the world about this band past this top fifteen single, the band is still in existence today, and continues to perform in the club circuit.
Formed in the Rio Grande Valley, the original members included guitarists Danny McKenna, Balde Silva, Art Mendoza, bassist Steve Zipper and drummer Rob Young. After numerous club performances around South Texas, the band moved to San Antonio, Texas and received a major record deal from RCA (now BMG). This deal would recruit the production talents of Sean Delaney, who at the time was also producing KISS. In addition, guitarist Mendoza was replaced with guitarist and banjoist extraordinaire Ron Rose, who added a country flavor to the band.
Their self-titled debut LP appeared on RCA in 1978, with the single "My Angel Baby" topping the easy-listening charts and falling just shy of the pop Top Ten; 1979's More than a Love Song failed to recapture its predecessor's success, however, and after issuing If You Believe a year later, Toby Beau was dropped from their contract. The band continued playing the Texas club circuit during the decades that followed, however, still with Silva at the helm.

A St. Louis KSHE Klassic! Heard John Ulett play it this morning and just had to hear it again!! Great guitar, harmonies and story! All from a band named after a shrimp boat. Cool.

Saw them many times live a long time ago at Frivolous Sal's in Poughkeepsie NY. We loved them!

I have this on vinyl, but I have been looking for it everywhere in digital format!

Toby Beau was the original group that consisted of Danny McKenna, Balde Silva, & Art Mendoza. Later Rob Young (drums), Steve Zipper (bass), and Bill Mattar (piano) joined the group. I was the Producer & Personal Manager for the group. Balde Silva was the lead singer on "My Angel Baby" and has now assumed the name. He and wife Rennetta are playing on cruise ships based out of Hawaii.

Paul, I really liked them, especially "California" and "Same Old Line". Whatever happened to the band, why only one album?

I can't be you,.I tried to tell you,.it's not who I am..I survived the ocean literally. With so many adults dead and dying even with life vest..it didn't make sense.that they didn't live too..I could swim..as slow enough to finally get there..but they should have survived to..I can't be you.
