The crazy thing about Toby is I forgot about him for years, and now in my young adulthood ran into him at a coffee shop that both him and I frequent. I won't say where for privacy reasons, but I ended up talking to him a few times, he definitely seems extremely affected by what happened it's a bit sad to see. He's trying to break out into an entertainment career outside of Youtube which I wish the best of luck to him in. Can believe me if you want or not, it was a surreal experience to meet someone you watched in your teens years almost 12 years later.

You're absolutely right it was the perfect storm of allegations and his audience growing up. I was very young, my brother would show me his content when he was in grade school, and I was still at an age where the news wasn't something I watched, so I never heard of any allegations or even would've understood quite what that meant, but what did me in was the loudness and the silly voices that just didn't work once I get into middle school. My brother introduced me to Markiplier and the rest is history, as the glorious entry of FNAF swept me onto a train of new YouTubers leaving the days of Happy Wheels and Minecraft behind (until people would revisit them in 2020). There were moments I looked back and wondered what happened to YouTubers I used to watch, saddened by what happened with Smosh, Nigahiga, and the general decline of Tobuscus into obscurity.

Toby made my early teen years Bareable. I was 12 when I discovered him. In 2014 I stopped watching him. I was more into PewDiePie.
When I grew up and went back to think about all of this I felt bad for Toby. He could have gone very far but the accusations ruined thag for him. Checked his account today as I haven’t really thought about him in years but wondered if he was still making videos. Sad to see he hasn’t uploaded for over a year.

I know I’m late and what I have to say may be a tad biased so forgive me. Like a lot of people I watched Toby a lot in my younger years. When he went through those allegations I really felt for him but at the same time people just suddenly came out of the wood work and accused him. His audience had already began drifting and moving on. Fast forward I’d actually end up going through false allegations with my ex fiancé I had to provide our texts and emails. And I damn near lost everything it took me a long time to recover it still affects me to this day. My point being Toby was great and back then I’d consider YouTube was in the golden era, I hope the guy can land on his feet somehow.

Shocker, someone gets falsely accused of sexual assault, he gets his career destroyed and life shattered, all because huge sections of the crowd he previously tried to appeal to subscribe to certain political views of guilty first, prove innocence later... Shocking that he doesn't stick up for them or agree with them anymore (if he ever did.) Such a tragedy, who could predict such a thing could ever happen?

Even if you think his views are bad, the takeaway shouldn't be that he needs to escape them, more so it should be regarding what caused him to adopt them. What chained him up and dragged him in that direction? Such a surprise, external influences can radicalize people, it's not all just internal.

I am still angry about the whole accusation thing against Toby. My own sister who introduced me to Tobuscus, believed the girls story. I asked her why she didn't do anything about it like go to the police my sister said "She was probably embarrassed".... Embarrassed? She was embarrassed so she didn't go to the police in private but instead went online where millions of people could see it? The fact that allegations can ruin the career of such a talented soul is indicative of our failing society and especially in a country where people are supposed to be innocent until PROVEN guilty. tobuscus reminds me a lot of fred, though i wasnt really into that guy when he was at his prime. but both had a large youtube following, generally kids, both features in a movie or show that was aimed at kids, and both kind of just fell off as the internet progressed into other genres of entertainment. ill always love tobuscus for the minecraft videos and the songs and the funny animations that felt like were one of the reasons i made it through school with as little friends as i had. i think that every good thing comes to an end, whether the allegations were ruled false or not his career was sooner or later going to come to an end surely. it feels like it was such a lifetime ago as i now work a big job in construction and can hardly imagine myself watching content like that, despite that no matter what he does now for a living or where he's at now, he's part of the reason im where i am with the memories that i have.

I was in my twenties when I first started watching his content back in 2010ish. To be fair I have a nephew that’s now in their teens that I used to watch Tobuscus vids with. I remember him being so excited as a kid to watch “that guy from Cartoon Network” back in the day.

Philip DeFranco even mentioned how Toby’s behavior was out of control and is why he was fired from the “Cute. Win. Fail.” series. He also apparently acted like an ass at DeFranco’s wedding.

I honestly looked him up to see newer videos done on the guy. It does seem suspicious the way the accusations came through. Girls aren't as pathetic as people like to assume, so not ALL girls are afraid to come forward with rape allegations. Not gonna lie to you, I don't think he's guilty. I think he's guilty of something, to which he can't talk about in court, but I don't think anything real happened. I'm going to research the court case if I can get a hold of it.

But shortly after “Safety Torch” is when I left. I left when I started seeing him in a few vlogs from Katers17 (SMP Films girlfriend at the time). Mate, I'm turning 31 early next year and Toby is just a nostalgia trip for me.

Also regarding the allegations: There were like 5 or so exes saying the dude did use various substances and was a cheater. While that suckd, it's something he has to deal with himself. I don't have to marry the guy or snort cocaine with him to like his content. I feel sad for him but that's it. That being said, there was one single ex saying the guy sexually assaulted her and all the others saying he didn't do that to them. Weird, isn't it? Also, kinda weird, that the lady came out with it when he was on the height of his popularity.
Hindsight is often 20/20 and if the whole "Amber Heard vs Johnny Depp" should have taught society anything, it's that allegations of random exes regarding assault and/or domestic violence should be believed, when there's concrete evidence. Unfortunately, that wasn't something society was aware of back in the day.

It's easy for women to play the "r@pe" card and ruin someone's life with no evidence and they know it. And the batshit insane ones will use it. Not saying the allegations aren't true. But, if they are true, sexual assault is a crime. Toby's ex didn't sue him for that alleged crime. She was just like "oh btw, this now famous ex of mine did a bad thing". Don't just blindly believe crap without evidence.

Most people don’t know but it was also some vids he made as “pranks” where he was basically being a jerk to his assistant on the channel and flirted with a girl on a live stream, and he got a bunch of hate from the fans for that. I remember those vids weren’t received well and he lost a bunch of the fan base. This was shortly before the allegations came out like a year later which probably made them more believable to some fans.
