Say No More
Todd Rundgren Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Say no more
I can feel you whenever you're near
Say no more
I will know all you want me to hear
I am writing with you, of you, love you
Say no more

I am lost in a river of words
Say no more
Let this feeling be all that is heard

I am by you, with you, of you, love you
Say no more

Overall Meaning

These lyrics from Todd Rundgren's song Say No More seem to be depicting a deep level of understanding between two people who are in love. The first two lines suggest that the singer doesn't need to hear anything spoken in order to feel the presence of his lover - their connection is that strong. He goes on to say that he "will know all you want me to hear," implying a level of telepathy or intuitive understanding between them.

The next few lines ("I am writing with you, of you, love you / Say no more") suggest a collaborative relationship - they are creating something together, whether it be music or some other form of art. And finally, the last two lines of the verse ("I am lost in a river of words / Say no more") seem to indicate that words aren't enough to describe the depth of emotion between them. The singer is content to let their actions and feelings speak for themselves.

Overall, this song seems to be a celebration of a deep, mutually understood love. The lyrics are simple yet evocative, and the musical accompaniment underscores this sense of romanticism. It's a beautiful and heartfelt song that captures the essence of true love.

One of Todd's early songs, so beautiful. My second "early Todd" favorite is without doubt, "You are my Window" during those Nazz years. And this man is still NOT in the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame. Too talented, I guess. Thanks for posting.

As others have stated, I have been listening to Todd most of my life, have seen him live 3 times and I have never heard this.
I feel like I just stumbled onto treasure.

Isn't there a song that he wrote about her on this album? I think it's called "Baby, Let's Swing."
