October 1988, Valbonnes, Maidenhead. Quite simply the most profoundly life changing experience of my life. Me, a bit of a biker/metal/goth, invited to London by friends to see what they do on acid.
"Oh I know acid," I boasted, having been hanging with grufty bikers in Lincoln for years. I got to their pad in Middlesex & they put this on, I was shocked! WTF! You listen to disco on acid, noooo. This, coming from a Gong, Zappa & Hawkwind fan. "Just wait & see John," they said.

Got to the club on the bus, already tripping on Window Panes,v strong. Got on dance floor, thump thump thump, "Jesus is here," the massive sound system blasted. I started to "dance." "Stop trying to dance John," my friends said, "Just stand there & relax. RELAX I thought, you gotta be joking!

So I did eventually relax & next thing I know, I was caught by a "wave" which went through the club like a big ripple, each time it hit me, it was orgasmic. 500 people on v strong acid. I looked in people's sparkling eyes & it was like I'd known them my whole life, even though they were total strangers. Dancers were playing like children, teasing each other's ego weirdness.

What seemed like half an hour later, the music stopped & the lights went on but it had actually been 4 or 5 hours. We looked around & we were all completely soaked in sweat. We went outside & the night was a bit cold & we were all STEAMING while the police looked on, completely perplexed that there was no fighting, in fact, we were cuddling each other. Went back to their pad, they put this tune on again & suddenly it was INCREDIBLE!

That was me hooked for life. ❀

that's a strong statement sir... (insert side eye) I would say that Royal House - Can You Party is the greatest house song ever made, but to each their own

@jostia7986

@@omayraortega9107 I say it for several reasons. The track came out in 1988 and still gets play and can rock any Dj set still in 2021z #2 the amount of both remixes and sampling taken from this track is hard to match. If you listen to 1988-1991 house tracks so many tracks take sampling from Can You Party.
