We will fall together
Toh Kay Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I once knew a guy, obsessed with the afterlife
Oh what a terrible day that was when he realized he'd wasted all his time
Time was ticking by, and he'd been left behind
And as that clock tick-tocked his heart did stop and everything thing he had was fucked

And we know not what we do (Can you hear them call?)
Will we ever make it through?
As they watch us fall from the sky to the ground to the sea
Woe is me, woe is me, no one will save you now
We can only look away (Away!)
Away-way-way-way-way
We'll not be victims there'll be no victims of to speak
And only then will we be free
And up will rise the meek

And when we fall we will fall together
No one will catch us so we'll catch ourselves
And where we roam, we will roam forever
No one will understand what we meant

The beaten and the bruised, forsaken, the abused
Oh what a glorious day we'll have rising up and claiming all our dues
The day will come as sure as the ever-setting sun
All of those that self-impose will find themselves so indisposed

And we know not what we do (Can you hear their call?)

Now, with the line drawn in the wet sand
You need to tell us where you stand
Sitting waiting watching rotting everything they warned us of is true
Now tell me what we're all supposed to do
They're coming after all of us with everything they've got
With the fury of a soldier who will answer to his God
So how will we fight? All we have is logic and love on our side

And when we fall we will fall together
No one will catch us so we'll catch ourselves

And where we roam, we will roam forever
No one will understand what we meant

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Toh Kay's song "We Will Fall Together" speaks of the inevitability of death and how it affects the way people live their lives. The song shares the story of a person who was too consumed by the idea of what happens after death that they failed to live their lives fully. The second verse emphasizes the helplessness of people when death comes, and that no one will come to save them when they fall. The chorus repeats the idea of falling together and catching oneself when there's no one around.

The song then shifts to a call for action. The bridge urges listeners to take a stand and choose where they stand amidst the chaos of life. It emphasizes the importance of standing up against those who want to control others and accept love and logic as the foundations of the fight.

Overall, the song encourages listeners to live their lives in the present fully, be prepared for the worst, and fight for what they believe in when necessary.

I do think the acoustic versions really highlight Toh Kay’s skills as a lyricist better than the original streetlight versions.

Cameron Jones

I used to listen to the streetlight lullabies album when I was going through heroin withdrawals getting sober. It helped with the anxiety part. This was always my favorite song off the album.

Plus they’re fun to play ❤️

Cameron Jones

@OnslaughtMMA actually same with the “going back to the same problems” part. I’m just trying to find the strength to get myself sober again. It’s hard sometimes.

OnslaughtMMA

Congratulations, strangely enough same. Except I'm back with the same issue its reassuring I'm doing the right things to get clean again.

Old Couches

“We will fall together” was always one of those SM songs I could never get into no matter how many times I heard it. I’m glad this version exists, it’s a lot clearer and emotional than most other songs.
