After Bill Kaulitz’s participation in a children’s Star Search in 2003 at age thirteen (which he lost in the quarter-final), he was discovered by music producer Peter Hoffmann. Devilish changed their name to Tokio Hotel: “Tokio” is the German spelling of the Japanese city Tokyo, due to a love of the city, and “Hotel” due to their constant touring and living in hotels.
Soon after Sony BMG took them under contract, Hoffmann hired David Jost and Pat Benzner into the team of creators and authors, and had them give the teens instruction on songwriting and instrument playing; most of the songs of the first album were written by Hoffmann, Jost and Benzer (including the singles Scream and Rescue Me which were completely written by them), only the single Unendlichkeit was written completely by Tokio Hotel themselves. However, shortly before release of their first album, Sony terminated their contract. In 2005, Universal Music Group took Tokio Hotel under contract and developed a marketing plan. The band has now become one of the biggest acts originating from Germany, The bands success has reached The United States, Mexico, Puerto Rico, France and various other countries.
Tokio Hotel released the album "Humanoid" in Europe And the United States, With translations in German and English.

What's underneath our closed sweet heart
Hidin' what we wanna share
Take my hand, I'll take you there
There's a call on you while
There's a snake in your bed
And it's telling you something (it says)
When you're feeling lonely
Go help yourself
Do whatever you desire
Go throw your arrows
Hit her heart
If they don't feel right
Love who loves you back
The perfect storm
What turns you on?
You can have all that
Love who loves you back
Turn me on, turn me on, turn me on
Turn me on, turn me on
Love who loves you back
Turn me on, turn me on
Love who loves you back
Turn me on, turn me on
Love who loves you back
What's real we have to scream to see
Leaning closer next to me
Count to three and lose control
If you like it let me know
There's a call on you while
There's a snake in your bed
And it's telling you something (it says)
Yeah I like it like that
When you're feeling lonely
Go help yourself
Do whatever you desire
Go throw your arrows
Hit her heart
If they don't feel right
Love who loves you back
The perfect storm
What turns you on?
You can have all that
Love who loves you back
Turn me on, turn me on, turn me on
Turn me on, turn me on
Love who loves you back
Turn me on, turn me on
Love who loves you back
Turn me on, turn me on
Some are small, some are tall
Some are born with it all
Some are in it for the kill
Some just do it for the thrill
Archers aim your perfect mark and throw
Throw your arrows
Hit her heart
If they don't feel right
Love who loves you back
The perfect storm
What turns you on?
You can have all that
Love who loves you back
Turn me on, turn me on, turn me on
Turn me on, turn me on
Love who loves you back
Turn me on, turn me on
Love who loves you back
Turn me on, turn me on
Love who loves you back
The lyrics of Tokio Hotel's song Love Who Loves You Back reflect on the idea that when it comes to love, we should focus on those who love us back rather than pursuing someone who doesn't reciprocate our feelings. The verses of the song use imagery of the moon and stars, closed hearts, and snakes in beds to convey the idea that our true feelings can often be hidden and may require courage to express. The chorus encourages listeners to "throw your arrows" and "hit her heart" but only if it feels right and to prioritize loving someone who loves you back. The repetition of the phrase "turn me on" suggests that the decision to love who loves you back can be exhilarating and empowering.
The song's bridge suggests that love can be a game of sorts, with different players having different motivations and strategies. However, the message remains consistent that finding someone who loves you back should be the ultimate goal. The use of archery and arrows as a metaphor for pursuing love adds to the playful tone of the song while also evoking the idea of taking aim and putting in effort to achieve a desired outcome.
Overall, Love Who Loves You Back reflects on the complexity of human connection and the risks and rewards of pursuing love. It encourages honesty and vulnerability in expressing our feelings and prioritizes mutual respect and affection in relationships.

I side-eye the fans who are shocked at the bisexuality displayed. Bill is the same kid who, at elementary age, sang It's Raining Men in the most flamboyant way possible. I also kind of side eye the ones shocked by the orgy.
A. Tokio Hotel are from Germany, which is in Europe, where sexuality is less taboo in comparison to the US.
B. The members gave me the impression that they slept around, at least Tom, with groupies, and that was around 5 or 6 years ago? So it's no surprise that they're unafraid to depict sexual situation, now that they're more than of age.
The music is different from Tokio Hotel of past years, but the essence is not. Bill is still in his feelings, the videos are still dark and touching on humanity and angst while the other members play their instruments in the background.
The biggest crimes I get from this video are the jackets Bill was wearing, and Tom's beard.
@mykingdomlights
early Tokio Hotel Fan from Austria here! If you dont want to, you dont have to read my comment because... this might be a little longer than the usual comments on here.
When I was at around 12/13 years old, I absolutely adored them. I was in love with Bill, and wanted to go to a concert more than anything else in the world. But there were people in my class, that hated this band and then, came to hate me too. "Hate" is a very strong word for 12-year olds but to just say that they didnt like me, is just not enough. When the few friends I had came over to my house, I would take down all of their posters and hide all of their CDs I had, just to make sure that no one would notice. Because before, I made a mistake by bringing a binder full of cut out magazine scans and such to school, because I was so proud of my creation. Someone saw that and BAM, there was I, their target. from that day on, I would never talk about Tokio Hotel out in public ever, because I was so scared of people hating me for it. I was 12. Only 12 years old.
Now, I will be 22 in December, nearly 10 years later, I can say I am over it. I am over all the days I cried myself to sleep because of those horrible kids. I am over all the things they said, and did to me, to make me feel like I was less of person. Now, I say I loved Tokio Hotel, I really did. Now, I can say I listen to american country music 90% of the time, even if this genre isn't very big here in Austria and most of my friends listen to totally different kinds of music. I can say, that I love Musicals and Theatre, even if most of my friends dont necessarily share my passion for those things. I can say that, because those things are a part of what I am, and what and who I want to be, it defines ME, only ME. One of my best friends loves rock music - I kind of hate it because for my part, I think its too loud and... rocky? But that doesnt matter because we are still friends, because those things do not define what our friendship is about.
So if you are still reading this, I would like to answer on this comment - tell me your story. What makes you, you? Did you have a similiar story to mine? Please, feel free and share it. If you dont want to share your story, please keep this in mind:
I can say, I am over those things. Things that happened, that have been said. That doesn't mean that I will ever forget, but I do hope that one of the people that were hating on me in "Middle School" read this and feel like that this is also adressed to them. Also, if YOU are one of those people... Fuck you. You made me think I was less of a person than you, because you didn't like the music I liked. I hope you've grown up and changed, because if not, I feel very sorry for you.
@BxMxTxH15
+nenainwonderland I'm sorry for everything you went through when you were young. Some
people can be really mean and inconsiderate. Living in the United
States, I know a lot of people who went through the same situation as
you did for simply liking different things. I've always liked "weird"
music compared to the one that is most commonly heard around here, but
fortunately, I was never victimized for it. Sure, there were always
people who called me weird or said that what I listened to was shitty or
"not real music" but that didn't really bother me. You mentioned that
you like Country music and I personally don't like it at all, but it's
ok because we all like different things. Cheers from the United States
my friend. :)

"Too many lies,
too many lives,
too much pain,
too many chains,
too many tears,
too many fears,
too much waste,
too much hate,
too many… walls"
This is not about the clip. It's about the comments I see here... People, Berlin Wall was torn down in 1989... Maybe it's time to destroy your walls of rejection? The boys have grown and it is normal that their music has changed too. Or do you want to 25 years Bill singing the voice of 13 year old boy? Songs by Devilish are cute, but you want still living in 2003? Band living until their music is growing. I love KINGS OF SUBURBIA! Amazing album! The songs and music are incredible! And it has a song for every taste: do you like ballads - listen to 'Invaded' and 'Run Run Run', like electronics - choose 'The Heart Get No Sleep' or 'We Found Us', and for heavy rock music lovers there is 'Stormy Weather' and 'Masquerade', ect. What about 'Love Who Loves You Back' - you can love the clip or not, but the song is cool! Fun and easy music that I want to listen to again and again...For those who bitching about video, I draw your attention: it's just a video. The real life of an artist - is his private life, and I'm not going to discuss it, cause this is NOT OUR BUSINESS! And yes, I like THAT Bill is so hot in this video. It is a pity that the scene in the elevator was not included in the clip completely. ;-) #myfavoritescene And I like the fact that he continues to do what he wants and don't give a fuck of all your shirty opinions and comments. And in the end I want to say, the most importantly for understanding the song, it is not necessary to read the comments or someone else's opinion. You just have to listen to your heart and FEEL IT ALL. #ThankYouTokioHotel
@Fireplay29
Started with Schrei at 13. Listening to Love Who Loves you back at 22. I was angry and hated everything as a teenager. I'm an adult now and I've got shit to do. I am fond of their old music and their new music. No matter how crapfilled the world was or is, there comes a point when you just can't be angry about it anymore. Do your best in life as an individual and make the world a little bit brighter for someone who is still stuck in the darkness.
I was an angry 13 year old. Schrei got me through those days of being bullied by classmates and the lack of understanding from my family. I screamed as loud as I could when I was alone.
I decided that I would try to be the opposite of the people hurting me.
At 22, I'll be graduating nursing school in a year and working with populations in need. I didn't have anyone that treated me with kindness when I needed it. I at least want to show kindness to those who were in the same situation I was in.
Scream when you are alone and sad, then love and show kindness to others in the same situation. Love who loves you back.

Everybody is commenting on how much Bill has changed but honestly I'm just glad Bill is comfortable with his sexuality and knows who he is now.

@JakobJakobsonTheEgg
I grew up with them. I used to be bullied at school severely for years and their music was what kept me going. I even saw them live in 2010. One of the happiest nights in my life so far. Since 2012 I havent really checked on them. Boy, have they changed! I like it though. Bill is still super hot. But thats besides the point. I like how they take risks to do what they truly love. Probably not my favourite song but the music video is nice. It really adds to the song. There is a chance I would not be here without them. So from the bottom of my heart, Im truly thankful they exist.
